I don't think we need to change the bylaws to eliminate the contest
participation requirement. It simply was meant to encourage members to
contribute to an overall club score. There are no minimum score
requirements to meet, so anyone should be able to make a few contacts a
couple of times a year to meet the intent of the bylaws. The key is to
submit the entry. In the past when a larger portion of the membership
was motivated to get involved, our club score became more competative.
It would be nice to see a higher standing again. We will never be able
to match the level of scoring of some of the big east coast clubs, but
we can make a presence. Maybe there are some who are reluctant to get
into contesting for fear they would enjoy it and become hooked, hi. I
for one am not a top notch contestor, but every once in awhile like to
see what I can stretch myself to accomplish. I tend to collect
multipliers, so I like to check the results to see how many more QSOs
others had to make to equal or better my score. So however you enjoy
working a contest get out there and have some fun allready! Just send in
the results a couple of times a year and your good to go.
