About a month ago, Jim Bohnsack, KZ0C, of Waterloo, was diagnosed with
inoperable colon and liver cancer. At the time, he was given an estimate of
6-18 months. This morning I received a call from his daughter; Jim
unexpectedly died yesterday, apparently after having gone to Mayo to seek
other options. Terri told me "he just went downhill from there".
I am deeply saddened by this news. Jim was a man with a big heart, jovial
manner, and always had a positive attitude and a good joke (or several!).
He gave of his time greatly in assisting local hams, particularly with
antenna and tower work, and was an avid contester and DX'er; he will be
missed by many. He was also a very good friend of mine; I will miss him
dearly.
I don't have details for funeral arrangements yet, but will pass them along
as I learn of them.
May Jim's soul rest in peace.
