Good idea. I ended up taking a plate-tuned Hartley from an old handbook,
building it with a 6AH6 and a 1.75Mc grid tank and a 3.5Mc plate tank,
then a 6C4 buffer, all powered via a new Allied transformer (250VCT
and 6.3V windings).

Works great on the bench! And even used it for a 40M QSO with the
Azores this afternoon via the Eico 720. Gotta put it together with
my old Millen dial and in a nice metal box, then I'm set to go!
