     I use a product called Flitz.  It's non abrasive and works well, but 
those old copper chassis are difficult to bring back when they have pits and 
brown spots on them.  If they are just discolored then the Flitz works fine. 
It's also great for aluminum and fiberglass.  You should be able to locate 
some by doing a web search for it, although some hardware stores carry it. 
You still have to be careful around the lettering and not rub too hard.
