Hi, I just subscribed to this list and posting for the first time.
I recently got an Eico 666 in non-working condition from someone. All I know
from the previous owner is that the meter gets pinned when its powered on.
So... just wanted to find out more about this tester - how do other users
like it ? Is it good ? and I had a few questions...
I haven't yet tested anything inside to see what exactly is wrong but just
wanted to check if anybody has replaced the two electrolytic
capacitors(10uf), the rectifier and the germanium diode.
Do I need to use the exact same values for the caps, rectifier and diode
(1N48) ?
Can I replace the caps with higher values (22,47 or even 100uf) since they
are in the circuit basically as filter caps ?
Is it ok to use a 1N34 which is also a germanium diode to replace the 1N48 ?
And can I use almost any regular rectifier to replace the existing 50ma
recitifier ?
Your inputs will be very helpful and highly appreciated.
Thanks!
73s,
-Percy KC0GVT.
