RA9YAH/p from the Kosihinsky area (RDA reference AL-29 for the Russian

12/01/2006: JA6EGL (Mike), JH6WDG (Kazu) and JA6CM (Taka) will be
active as T88SM, T88AQ and T88CM respectively from Palau (IOTA OC-009)
January 12-17th. Activity will be on 160-6 meter CW, SSB and RTTY. QSL

12/01/2006: RW4NX (Oleg) and RA4NAJ (Oleg) will be QRV as UE4NFF
January 12-14th from the Nurgush natural reserve (RFFA reference RFF-064
for the Russian flora and fauna award), Kotel'nichsky area (RDA
reference KI-21 for the Russian districts award), Kirovskaya oblast
(KI). Activity will be on 80-20 meter (possibly 15 meter) CW and SSB.
QSL cards will automatically be sent via the bureau for all contacts

12/01/2006: DJ4KW (Gerd) and DK9GG (Gisela) will be active January
12-20th as V31YN (CW, mostly on 160 and 80 meters) and V31GW (RTTY)
respectively from Belize. February 1-8th they will be active on 40
meters and higher from Southwater Caye (NA-180). QSL via home calls.

13/01/2006: Ken, WB2ART, will be active on the Island of St. Croix, US
Virgin Islands (IOTA NA-106), January 13-21st. Activity will be (mostly)
PSK31 on 20 meters, but he can operate any band 40-10 meters. This
activity will also count for the St. Croix Island lighthouse (WLOTA

14/01/2006: Marco, CE6TBN, will be active as CE6TBN/7 from Las Huichas
(SA-064, DICE ICE-705) January 14-15th. Look for activity on 40 and 20

14/01/2006: Patrick, F8DYD/p, will activate La tour du Cordier (DFCF
reference 86-022, for the French castles award) and the Mill of

14/01/2006: Les, G3VQO/p, will activate Chanctonbury Hill (SOTA
G/SE-009, 238M), Southern England region, on January 14th. Activity will
start around 13:30 UTC on 7.030, 5.280, 3.560 MHz CW and 5 MHz SSB. He

14/01/2006: The International Shortwave League (ISWL), continues with
their 60th (Diamond) Anniversary celebrations this weekend. GB6SWL will
be QRV January 14th and 15th from Heathfield, in East Sussex, England.
Please look out for Arthur (G0KOC) who will be the main operator.
Special activities will run throughout the year. These will include the
callsigns GB60SWL and GB6SWL being QRV at various times and venues. The
ISWL Club Calls GX4BJC /P and MX1SWL /P will also be QRV throughout

14/01/2006: Richard, GW3CWI/p, plans to activate Glyder Fawr summit
(SOTA GW/NW-003, 999M), North Wales region, on January 14th. Activity
will be on 7.030 MHz CW, starting around 13:00 UTC. QSL via G3CWI,

14/01/2006: I3JUK (Bepi) and IK3ABY (Stefano) plan to activate a new
reference for the Italian castles award (DCI) on January 15th starting
around 09:00 UTC. The new reference will be the Villa-Castello Miari
De'Cumani of Sant'Elena (DCI PD036), located in the Region of Veneto,
Province of Padova (PD). Activity will be on 40 and 20 meter SSB. QSL

14/01/2006: IT9YMM/p (Antonio) and IT9/IV3YIM (Salvo) will be active
January 14th from several references for the Italian castles award
(DCI) - Tower of the Beam of Pretty (DCI PA-024), Pozzillo tower to
Pretty (DCI PA-028) and if conditions allow they will activate the Tower
of Orsa to Cinisi (DCI PA-035). All castles are located in the Region of
Sicilia [Sicily] (IOTA EU-025, IIA SC-001, MIA MI-107), Province of
Palermo (PA). Look for activity on 40 and 20 meter SSB. QSL via home

15/01/2006: FIREBALL ALERT: On Sunday morning, January 15th, between
approximately 01:56 and 01:59 a.m. PST (09:56 - 09:59 UTC), a brilliant
fireball will streak over northern California and Nevada. It's NASA's
Stardust capsule, returning to Earth with samples of dust from Comet
Wild 2. Observers along the flight path should have a marvelous view of
this rare man-made meteor. Radio signals reflected from the capsule's
ionized tail may be heard from a much wider area--hundreds to thousands

15/01/2006: Pierre-Luc, F5HRH, will be active from the Democratic
Republic of the Congo between January 15-22nd. He has currently applied
for a 9Q callsign and is awaiting for it. He is not sure at this time
what kind of equipment he will take. More details/information will be

15/01/2006: Peter, DL3APO, reports that Wolfgang (Wulf) DL1AWI,
Matthias (Mat) DL5XU and Erik DL9AWI will be on an expedition to the
Pacific from January 14th until March 3rd. They will be active from - Ua
Pou Island (IOTA OC-027, DIFO FO-027), Marquesas archipelago, January
15th - 28th; from Raivavae Island (IOTA OC-114, DIFO FO-122), Australes
archipelago, February 1-14th; and will travel through Auckland, New
Zealand (IOTA OC-036), for the remainder of their trip using
ZL/homecall/m. They will run two stations consisting of FT-847, FT-890,
IC706MKII, 2x Linear Amp. 600W, Antenna tuner, vertical antennas as well
as three fiberglass rods and plenty of wire for Beverage antennas and
will place to emphasis on lower bands, especially 160m. QSL cards for

15/01/2006: Salvatore, IK1AWV/p, plans to activate the Bastion of the
Ciappella of Sanremo (DCI IM-068 for the Italian castles award) on
January 15th starting around 08:00 UTC. This reference is located in the
Region of Liguria, Province of Imperia (IM). Activity will be on 40 and

18/01/2006: Tibi HA7TM and his xyl will be on the road again on this
month. They will be active as HA7TM/HI9 from HI9CF's QTH located at Las
Terrenas, Samana, Dominican Republic (IOTA NA-096) from January 18th to
February 2nd. Tibi will be operating an Icom IC-706 at 100 watts to a 7
element log periodic yagi, rotary dipole for 40m and FD4 multiband wire
antenna (perhaps a dipole for 160m, it depends on the local situation).

18/01/2006: John (G4RCG) and Bruce (KI7VR) will operate mainly CW as
V25G and V26VR respectively from Antigua (IOTA NA-100) between January
18th and February 1st. They will be active on all bands, with special
emphasis on 160, 80, 40 and 30 meters. Look for V25G to participate in
the CQ 160M CW Contest as a SO Low Power entry. QSLs for both via G4OOC.

19/01/2006: Alfeo (I1HJT), Silvano (I2YSB), Carlo (IK1AOD), Carlo
(IK1HJS), Marcello (IK2DIA), Adriano (IK2GNW) and possibily a seventh
operator will be active from Somalia for two weeks starting January
19th. They will operate as 6O0N (im memory of Adam Nuur Maxamed Islam)
with three stations on all bands (6 meters included) SSB, CW and RTTY.

20/01/2006: Herm CT3FN and Rudi CT3/HB9CQL will be QRV January 20th to
February 1st from Madeira Island (IOTA AF-014, DIP MA-001). Activity
will be on all bands and modes. On January 21st and 22nd, Herm will
operate as CT9F from the São Jorge/Rosais lighthouse located on the
north coast of Madeira Island (ARLHS MAD-008, also count for WLOTA

20/01/2006: Look for Paul F6EXV (MU0EXV) and Jan DJ8NK (GU0VNK) to be
QRV January 20-30th from the Bailiwick of Guernsey (IOTA EU-114).
Activity will be on 160-10 meter SSB, CW and digital modes. QSL via

21/01/2006: DXpedition to Juan Fernandez Island (CE0Z), IOTA SA-005 -
January 21st to 28th - All operators are confirmed: Guillermo/XQ3SA
(Team Leader), Maite/CE3BYL, Gerard/F2JD, Pedro/CE3BFZ, Héctor/CE3VII,
Dave/K4SV, Bill/N2WB, Bob/N6OX, Ignacio/CE3GFN, Sergio/CE3GL and
Juan/CE3GRG. All the equipment and antennas are ready to go. Airplanes
tickets and hostelling are confirmed. During the activity, look for the

25/01/2006: If you are missing HB0 on top band look for us HB0/T93M
(N4EXA) Danny, HB0/T93Y Boris, HB0/T94DX (DJ2MX) Mario, HB0/T94JJ
(OE1EMS) Braco and HB0/T96Q Ivek between January 25th and February 1st.
They will also be active in WW DX 160m CW contest using the HB0/T94DX
call. Before and after contest they will operate with 3 stations on all
HF bands, but with focus on 160m and 80m! They will use verticals,
dipoles and loops (K9AY; maybe beverage RX) on low bands! The QTH is the
same as used by HB0/DL2OBO and they will have some problems working JA?s
and far east because of the high hills in that direction. QSL via

10-27th. He has all the papers now, but he doesn't know what his call
will be since his arrival to Guayaquil. Probably he will be active as
HC2/EA7OC. His activity will be mainly from Guayaquil, but he hopes to

OH9MM (Juha) will be active as OH0Z from the Aland Islands (IOTA EU-002)
in the CQ WW RTTY WPX Contest (February 11-12th) possibly as a

14/02/2006: Just a quick note to give you some information about an
upcoming trip to the Bahamas (IOTA NA-001). For the ARRL DX CW contest:
Bob (N4BP)-C6AKQ, Kevin (K4PG) - C6APG, Bruce (W4OV) - C6AOV and Pete
(N8PR) - C6AHR will each operate single band entries 160, 80, 40, and 15
meters. They will travel on Monday, February 13th and probably will be
on the air by Tuesday. They will try to operate extensively on the WARC
bands before the contest. Plans are to leave on February 20th. QSL to

15/02/2006: Steve, AK0M, will be active as C6ASB from Abaco Island
(IOTA NA-080) February 15-22nd. He will participate in the ARRL DX CW

15/05/2006: Karl, OE3JAG, reports that he will be QRV May 15-22nd as

and 20 meter CW, PSK and RTTY, QRP with a dipole or long-wire antenna.

25/07/2006: Colin, G3VCQ, and others will be active from the island of
Arran (IOTA EU-123, IOSA CL-01, SCOTIA CS-14), Clyde Islands, between
July 25th and August 1st. The main purpose of the expedition is the RSGB
IOTA Contest (July 29-30th) when they will use the special call MM3M.
Outside the contest, Colin will operate as GM3VCQ/p on 80-10 meters,
including 2 meter and 70cm activity. Modes will be SSB, FM, CW, RTTY and
possibly some SSTV. Also look for Steve, M1ERS, to be active throughout
