25/11/2005: The VooDoo Contest Group will be QRV from Mali November
25-29th and will take part in the CQ WW DX CW Contest (November 26-27th)
as a Multi-Multi entry and they will be signing TZ5A. The group will be
active with seven one-kilowatt stations and mono-band antennas. This is
their 12th straight year operating from West Africa, and in their sixth
different country. They will have ten operators. Before and after the
contest, operators will use their own personal callsigns: AA7A - TZ6NS,
K5VT - TZ6VT, G3PJT - (???), K7WP - TZ6CW, G3SXW - TZ5A, KC7V - TZ6MF,

30/11/2005: John, K9EL, will be operating from the island of French St.
Martin (IOTA NA-105, DIFO FS-001, lighthouse WLOTA L-0711) as FS/K9EL
from November 30th to December 7th. This is a family vacation, so my
operating activities will be balanced with beach time. He will be using
an FT100 barefoot and vertical antennas for 80 through 10 meters. No PSK

01/12/2005: Eugene W2LU and Stephen WA2WVI plan to be active from
Western Samoa (IOTA OC-097). Their tentative dates are December 1-5th.
Their callsigns are not known yet. They plan to focus on 160 and 75
meters SSB; check 1850 and 3795 kHz, listening down 5, between

05/01/2006: Here is an update on the DXpedition to the Philippine
Kalayaan Island, Spratly Islands (IOTA AS-051) which was originally
scheduled to take place in the December 2005 time frame. The target
dates are now January 5-19, 2006 with special call DX0A. 4F2KWT, Gil,
says "Focus will be the low bands and targeting the East Coast of North
America." Equipment will include FT1000MPs, kilowatt solid state
amplifies, which will be powered by two Honda generators. They will have
phased verticals. The team will also be QRV on the high bands, including
WSJT on 6 meters EME. One of the ops will be N0NM (DU9/N0NM), Jon, a low

11/01/2006: Art, NN7A, will operate as V31JZ/p from South Water Caye
(IOTA NA-180), Belize, January 11-15th. This will be a one-person
operation with 100 watts and vertical and wire antennas. Operation will
be CW on 40-10 meters, WARC bands included; some 80 meter and 160 meter.
Some SSB on 20 meters and 15 meters, IOTA frequencies is possible,
conditions permitting. This will be Art's 6th operation from South Water
Caye, and his 12th trip to Belize since 1988. QSL direct via NN7A (Art

SPECIAL EVENTS -
25/11/2005: On November 27, 1898, the luxury steamship SS Portland was
lost in Massachusetts Bay about 20 miles north of Cape Cod during a
fierce storm that is now known as the "Portland Gale". The Portland was
a large paddlewheel steamer, almost 300 ft. long, known as a "night
boat", which kept a nightly schedule between Boston, Massachusetts and
Portland, Maine for almost 10 years. The Portland had aboard about 198
men, women and children and all were lost. The Marconi Radio Club of
Cape Cod, using the callsign W1P, will commemorate the 107th anniversary
of the sinking of the Portland on Friday, November 25, 14:00 to 22:00

26/11/2005: The Central Lancashire Amateur Radio Club will be on air
with special callsign GB5RSR from November 26th until December 18th as
part of its Christmas celebrations. The club will be operating from the

30/11/2005: The 30th of November is the birth-date of a great Indian
physicist Shri Jagadish Chandra Bose. On this day VU2DSI is going to
operate with the special call AT0JCB on the following frequencies -
