20/01/2005: New DX trip to Comprida Island (IOTA SA-024) for
Transequatorial Propagation experiences, now with better antennas and
longer time. Ark, PY2ZX, and Luiz, PY2OC, will be QRV January 20-26th
from Comprida Island, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil (WW Loc. GG64bx).
Activity will be on 6 meter, 2 meter and 70 centimeter SSB, CW and FM.
They will be using FT100D, FT480, HTs and broadcasting receivers along
with the following antennas: 2 x 14 ele 144 MHz, 17 ele 440 MHz, 3 ele
50 MHz; single 14 ele 144 MHz, beams for FM-TV rx. Look for them on
50,110 MHz; 144,200 MHz; 144,300 MHz (TEP); 144,930 MHz (FM); 432,100
MHz. They are looking for skeds and partners from the Caribbean side

21/01/2005: The 3Y0X team members are scheduled to depart Punta Arenas
January 14th. The activity from Peter I Island is expected to take place
between January 21st and February 4th, depending on weather. Nine
stations will be active on the following suggested frequencies: CW:
1822.5, 3523, 7023, 10103, 14023, 18073, 21023, 24893 and 28023 kHz;
SSB: 1842.5, 3750, 7073, 14190, 18165, 21295, 24987 and 28475 kHz;
Digital: 10148, 14088, 18105, 21100, 24949 and 28092 kHz. These
frequencies have been chosen to allow the team to occasionally activate
as many as three stations on one band at the same time, in order to take
full advantage of openings. There will be four pilot stations, namely
Don Greenbaum/N1DG (don at goldtel.net, for North & South America), Klaus
Wagner/DL1XX (dl1xx at gmx.net, for Europe, Africa & Middle East), Toshi
Kusano/JA1ELY (ja1ely at bb.mbn.or.jp, for the Pacific Rim & Asia), Lee
Jennings/ZL2AL (leejen at paradise.net.nz, for Australia & New Zealand).

21/01/2005: Poel Island EU-098 will be taken from the IOTA-List
effective 1st of February 2005. (Poel does not meet the 200m-rule
anymore, the island merges more and more with the mainland). Frank,
DL2SWW and Ric, DL2VFR will go to Poel for a last IOTA-operation January
21-23rd. Activity will be on all HF bands, CW and SSB. Poel counts for
the German Island Award as O-02 (and thats beyond the 1st of February
...). Sidetrip to Lighthouses FED-236, FED-092, FED-093 possible. Frank
and Ric hope to meet you on the air to say "farewell" to an IOTA-island.

21/01/2005: Augusto, I2JJR/p, will be acative January 21 from a new DCI
reference for the Italian Castles Award (DCI VA-065). This reference is
located in the Region of Lombardia, Province of Varese (VA). Activity
will begin on 40 meters (7045 or 7065 kHz) and then move to 20 meters
(14267 kHz) SSB. QSL via home call, direct or bureau. [Tnx I2JJR]
21/01/2005: Salvatore, IK1AWV/p, plans to be QRV January 21st from the
Fortified Residence of Rezzo (DCI reference IM-059, for the Italian
Castles Award). If possible he will also try to activate the Towers of
the Rezzo Castle (DCI IM-058). Both references are located in the Region
of Liguria, Province of Imperia (IM). Activity will be on 40 and 20

21/01/2005: John (G4RCG) and Bruce (KI7VR) will operate as KP2/G4RCG
and KP2/KI7VR from St. Croix, Virgin Islands (NA-106) between January
21st and February 6th. John will participate in the CQ 160m CW Contest
(January 29-30th) as KP2ZZ. QSL for both calls is via G4OOC, direct or

22/01/2005: Operators Gyuri HA5JI, Szabo HA5SX, Gyorgy VE3NZ and Lali
VE3NE will be active from the Madeira Islands between January 22nd and
February 3rd. They will be an entry in the CQWW 160m CW Contest as CT9M.

22/01/2005: Look for Franco, IK4DCS/p, to be active January 22nd from
the Castle of Valeggio on the Mincio (DCI reference VR-025, for the
Italian Castles Award) and from the Bridge and Towers Viscontee di
Borghetto to Valeggio on the Mincio (DCI reference VR-040). Both
references are located in the Region of Veneto, Province of Verona (VR).
Activity will be on 40 and 20 meter CW and SSB, starting around 13:00

22/01/2005: Look for Bert, MJ/PA3GIO/p, to be active January 22-27th
from the Isle of Jersey (IOTA EU-013, WAB: WV 64). Activity will be on

24/01/2005: Roger, G4IPE, will be QRV January 24-30th as 9H3RW from
Malta (IOTA EU-023). Activity will be mainly on 20 meter SSB (IOTA
frequency 14.260 MHz). QSL via home call, direct (QRZ.com) or bureau.

25/01/2005: Tibi, HA7TM, will be active January 25 to February 3rd as
3B8/HA7TM from Mauritius Island (IOTA AF-049). Activity will be on 40
through 10 meters, including WARC, 100 watts into a four band GP
antenna. After his operation here, he will go to Brazil between February
21st and March 2nd, and be active as HA7TM/PT7. His QTH will be
Fortalese. QSL cards are "OK" via the HA bureau or direct using the

25/01/2005: Wojtek, SP8MI, will operate as HF8IARU between January 25th
and March 6th to celebrate the 80th anniversary of IARU and the 75th
anniversary of PZK, the national IARU Society for Poland. QSL direct to

25/01/2005: Thomas, KC0W, will be active from Martinique (IOTA NA-107,
DIFO FM-001) as TO0O from January 27th to February 13th. Look for him to
be active in the CQ WW 160m CW Contest (January 29-30th) as a

26/01/2005: Curt, W3HQ will operate from Virgin Gorda, British Virgin
Islands (NA-023) for the CQ WW 160 Meter CW Contest. Start looking for
him on that band from January 26th to February 5th using the call
W3HQ/VP2V. He will accept skeds (w3hq at arrl.net) up to 22 January. [Tnx

27/01/2005: Charlie, HA8IB and Eli, HA9RE will be active (callsigns
TBA) January 27th to February 22nd from Rotuma (OC-060). They plan to
operate on 160-10 meter CW, SSB and RTTY with two stations, and to
participate in the CQ WW 160 Meter CW and ARRL DX CW contests. [Tnx

27/01/2005: A Cuban ham radio group will be QRV January 27-31st from
Cayo Jutia Island (IOTA NA-093), Los Colorados, Pinar del Rio Province.
The team members and QSL routes are as follows: Lazaro CO2WL/p (QSL via
EA3ESZ), Jorge CO3LF/p (QSL via IZ8EBI - P.O. Box 364, 87100 Cosenza -
ITALY), Jorge CO3JN/p (QSL via IZ8EBI), Juan CO3CJ/p (QSL via IZ8EBI)
and Gamboa CO3VK/p (QSL via IZ8EBI). Activity will be on SSB and PSK31,
using their personal calls. Frequencies: SSB - 1950, 3770, 7090, 14260,
18145, 21260, 24945 and 28450 kHz; PSK31 - 1838, 3600, 7070, 10110,
14070, 18100, 21070, 24920 and 28120 kHz. Please note that this is not a
big expedition. All operators will use their own rigs and the antennas
will be wire based. There are no facilities on this wild island and the
operators will not be accomodated in any type of resort. They will not
be using any planes, helicopters or sail-boats! Unfortunately there will
be no sponsor, big or small. So it is recommended that you have lots of
PATIENCE and FAIR-PLAY; may the Ham Spirit be with you during your QSO

28/01/2005: Jon, N0JK, will be active from Bermuda (IOTA NA-005) as
VP9/N0JK between January 28 and 31st. His primary purpose is a low power
entry in the CQ WW 160 CW Contest. Jon has upgraded his 160m antenna to
an Inverted L, which is now showing a "3 S-unit" improvement compared to
his prior 160m anatenna. Look for him outside of the contest on 60 and 6
