Activity will be weather and over indulgence dependent on 40 meter SSB,

Range Front lighthouse (ARLHS HAW-028) on December 24th and December

31/12/2005:  Vincenzo, IZ0FKE, will be active as OH0/IZ0FKE from the
Aland Islands (IOTA EU-002) from December 31st to January 4th. He will
be guest operating from the Alandia Contest Team's station. QSL via

31/12/2005:  Sam, G4OHX, reports that he will be QRV from the island of
Antigua between December 31, 2005 and January 13, 2006. He has not yet
been given a call, but it will possibly be V25OHX. This will be a
holiday style operation with activity on 30, 20 and 17 meters in his

Antarctic base "King Sejong" (HL-01 for the Antarctica Award) on King

December 30th. He plans to operate as DT8A on 160-10 meter SSB, CW and

01/01/2006:  Franck, F4BQO, will be active from Libreville, Gabon, as
TR8FC from January 1st until May, 2006. Activity will be during his

02/01/2006:  RA6LMF, RW6MF and UA6LP will be active January 2-3rd as
homecall from the Vtoroy Stvorny Rear (Azov-Don canal) lighthouse (RLHA

02/01/2006:  Fred, WA1ZIC, will be active as WA1ZIC/1 from Goat Island

02/01/2006:  The Irish Radio Transmitters Society is holding its 80m
Irish Counties Contest on Monday 2 January 2006. The event takes place
on the Bank Holiday following New Years Day and, according to the
organisers, should be a good opportunity to relax after the festivities.
The contest will run from 1200UTC to 1500UTC and all of the rarer EI and
GI counties will be activated. Full rules are on the IRTS website at:

03/01/2006:  Jean-Marie, F8CHN, will make a short trip to Rodrigues
Island (IOTA AF-017) from January 3-11th. He intends to work as

Suzdal' City (RDA VL-11, for the Russian Districts Award) and the

05/01/2006:  Here is an update on the DXpedition to the Philippine
Kalayaan Island, Spratly Islands (IOTA AS-051) which was originally
scheduled to take place in the December 2005 time frame. The target
dates are now January 5-19, with special call DX0A. 4F2KWT, Gil, says
"Focus will be the low bands and targeting the East Coast of North
America." Equipment will include FT1000MPs, kilowatt solid state
amplifies, which will be powered by two Honda generators. They will have
phased verticals. The team will also be QRV on the high bands, including
WSJT on 6 meters EME. One of the ops will be N0NM (DU9/N0NM), Jon, a low

05/01/2006:  Richard, G3CWI/p, will be active January 5th from Bardon
Hill (SOTA G/CE-004, 278M), Central England region, starting around
11:30 UTC. Activity will be on 7.030 MHz CW only. QSL via home call.

26/01/2006:  Kyle, WA4PGM, will be active as VP9/WA4PGM from the island
of Bermuda (IOTA NA-005) January 26-30th. Activity will be on all bands.
He will also participate in the CQ WW 160m CW Contest (January 28-29th)

13/02/2006:  Rick, N0YY, will be active as FG/N0YY from the island of
Guadeloupe (IOTA NA-102, DIFO FG-001) February 13-21st, including an
entry in the ARRL DX CW Contest (February 18-19th) as a

02/03/2006:  Ken, K7ZUM, will be active as 8R1ZUM in the ARRL DX SSB
Contest (March 4-5) from Guyana. Before the contest he will be active on

04/03/2006:  Al, F5VHJ, will be active as TO5A in the ARRL DX SSB
Contest (March 4-5) from the island of Martinique (IOTA NA-107, DIFO

22/03/2006:  DL2VFR (Ric) and DL2SWW (Frank), plan to be QRV March
22-29th as OH1/homecall from Korpo Island (IOTA EU-096). Activity will

23/07/2006:  Ric, DL2VFR, plans to be active as OZ/DL2VFR from Laeso
Island (IOTA EU-088, DIA NK-003 for the Danish Islands award) from July

will also be active in the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 29-30th). QSL via

in the Ardennes from December 30, 2005 to January 12, 2006, in memory of
Lucien F5OVA, one of the most active Ham in the Ardennes area. HF, VHF

01/01/2006:  The members of the Amateur Radio Club Koprivnica (9A8K)
will be active with the special anniversary call sign " 9A 650 C ", on
the occasion of the 650 years of having status of free town, which
Koprivnica got in 1356. In that time Koprivnica had the Latin name
Caproncensis. Koprivnica was one of the very few towns in the Middle
ages, with special privileges and grants received from king Ludovik I in
1356. The special call sign will be in use from the 1st January until
the 31st December 2006. The QSL manager for this activity is Kresimir,
9A7K. One QSO with " 9A 650 C " call sign is enough to get the special
"Koprivnica City Award." Everything concerning this special anniversary

+SILENT KEY+  Glenn, K3SWZ, reports the passing of Tim Fanus, WB3DNA, of
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in the early hours of December 28, 2005. Tim
was 47 years old and confined to a wheel chair since his early teens. He
was a DXCC Honor Roll member, QSL Manager and a long time QSL sorter for
the W3 Bureau until his health would not permit him to continue. For a
person with all of his physical problems, he never complained. Rest in
peace, Tim! Our condolences to Tim's family and friends.

* CITIES OF RUSSIA AWARD SPECIAL ACTIVITY - The second annual special
activity period for the Cities of Russia Award will be held from 1
January to 10 January 2006. Basically, any contacts made with different
Russian cities during this period may be used with a GCR log extract to
earn the basic 100 cities, or round up to any higher level that you
hold.  For example, if you already have cards from 75 cities, and are
working for the 100 level, if you work 25 during the 10 day activity
period, you can use them to claim the 100 level.  Your application must
show the contacts for which you have cards, and separately, the
additional contacts made during the special activity period. The GCR of
actual cards and of the log extract must be made by two licensed
amateurs.  The application may be sent by E-mail and the sponsor will
wait until the GCR signed certification and fee  is received. For your
convenience, the rules of the CORA are shown below and provide all
details.  The website contains a complete list of eligible Russian

* HAPPY NEW YEAR 2006 PARTY - The Award will be issued for at least
twenty QSO's/HRD's conducted on any HF and VHF+ bands from 18.00 UTC on
31.12.2005 to 18.00 UTC on 01.01.2006. The HNY 2006 Party is a meeting
on the air of those hams who pass to each other greetings on the last
day of the old year and the first day of the new year. All regular data
are exchanged during contacts. Please send a list of call-signs worked
