08/12/2005: R1ANT/m, R1ANT/A & R1ANK Cancelled - Dominik, DL5EBE, has
just received information from Mirny Base, R1ANT, that our friend Mike
(RW1AI) will not participate in the convoy to Vostok Base. Plans changed
rather quickly he said and he is very disappointed that he can't become
active from the old Russian bases which are located along the traverse.
Instead, Mike will go onboard of "Akademik Fedorov" on the 8th of
January and be QRV as RW1AI/mm on the way to Cape Town. Sorry for the
sad news! But Dominik will try to find out if Aleksej Turkeev, UA1ZCK,
will be operating from the convoy. [Tnx F5NQL]
08/12/2005: Gab, HA3JB, reports that his SU8BHI Cairo, Egypt,
expedition has ended. This was the first IPA (International Police
Association) station in Egypt. "Many thanks for all stations who worked
me." QSL via HA3JB direct only with SASE. There will be an online log
search on his web site at: http://www.qsl.net/ha3jb/ . Gab also reports
that he has a new e-mail address <ha3jb at t-email.hu> and that his old

10/12/2005: François, F5JNE and Claude, F5MCC will be QRV December 10th
as F5JNE/p from the Castle of Gien [Hunters and hunting Museum] (DFCF
reference 45-028 for the French Castles award, Canton DDCF 45-14, CP
45500), Department Loiret (45), Province of Centre. Activity will be on
40 meters starting around 07:00 UTC. QSL via F5JNE bureau preferred, SWL

10/12/2005: Richard, G3CWI/p, plans to activate Bishop Wilton Wold
summit [246M] (SOTA G/TW-004), Tyne to the Wash region, Grid Reference:
SE 821569 on December 109th. Activity will be on 7.030 MHz CW, starting

10/12/2005: Dan, HR2DMR, plans to participate in the ARRL 10 meter
contest (December 10-11th). He will operate both CW and SSB. QSL via

10/12/2005: Look for Roberto, I2JIN, to be active from El Salvador as
YS3/I2JIN from December 10-30th. Activity will be on all bands, mostly

11/12/2005: Marco, IK1RAE, will operate as V5/IK1RAE from Namibia
between December 11th and 22nd. He plans to be active mostly during his
evenings on +/- 14270, 18160, 21270, 7070, 28470, and 24970 kHz with 100

12/12/2005: Roland, F8EN, will be active again as TR8CR from
Libreville, Gabon. He will be there from December 12th to January 12th.
Activity will mostly be on CW on 40, 20 and 10 meters (7005 and 14005
kHz) and SSB (14170 kHz) during his morning. QSL via home call

12/12/2005: Mark, AA1AC, will be operating from the Hamilton Parish,
Bermuda (IOTA NA-005, lighthouse WLOTA L-0201), as AA1AC/VP9 from

13/12/2005: David (F0CRS) and Freddy (F5IRO) will operate SSB and CW as
TO7R from the Salut Islands (SA-020) December 13-15th. This operation
will also count for the Salut Island lighthouse (WLOTA L-0911). QSL via

15/12/2005: Tibi, HA7TM, will be active as 6W/HA7TM from the QTH of
6W7RV located in Le Caola, Senegal, December 15-22nd. Activity will be

15/12/2005: Jean-Paul F5BU (ex FT5WJ on Crozet Island) is going to stay
at Dumont d'Urville station (WAP FRA-01), Petrel Island (IOTA AN-017),
Adelie Land, Wilkes Land, from mid December, 2005, to the end of
February, 2006. He hopes to be active in his free time on 20 meter SSB
and is actually asking for a callsign like FT5YH. The QSL will be
printed a few weeks after his return and will be available via his home
call F5BU. It has been a long time since the French Antarctic station
Dumont d'Urville was not on the air! [Tnx F5NQL]
16/12/2005: Radio Club Cancun will be active as XF3NN from Isla del
Carmen (IOTA NA-135) December 16-18th. They plan to operate on 160-6

16/12/2005: Operators YB8HZ, YB8FS, YB8BRI, YB8HGM and YC8AJB will be
active as YB8ZC from Kodingareng Keke Island (Celebes Coastal Islands,

20/01/2006: Herm CT3FN and Rudi CT3/HB9CQL will be QRV January 20th to
February 1st from Madeira Island (IOTA AF-014, DIP MA-001) and
lighthouse (WLOTA L-0053). Activity will be on all bands and modes. On
January 21st and 22nd, Herm will operate as CT3FN/p from the São
Jorge/Rosais lighthouse (ARLHS MAD-008, also count for WLOTA LH 0053).

28/01/2006: Alfredo, WP3C, plans to be active from Puerto Rico (IOTA
NA-099) in the CQ 160-Meter CW Contest (January 28-29th) as NP4A, a

19/02/2006: Operators Toru/JI5USJ and Makoto/JI5RPT plan to operate as
JD1BLX and JD1BLY from Chichi-Jima Island (JD1-Ogasawara, IOTA AS-031,
JIA 10-110, JIIA AS-031-003, JCG 10007, WW Loc. QL17cb), between
February 19-28th. Activity will be on 160-10 meters and satellite
(VO-52, FO-29) CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK31. Their focus will be on the low

21/02/2006: Sigi, DL7DF, and crew will be on a Caribbean DXpedition
once again. Five experienced operators will participate: DL4WK (Wolf),
DL7UFR (Frank), DL7VOA (Rob), SP3DOI (Les) and DL7DF (Sigi). Activity
will be between February 21 and March 8, 2006, beginning with island of
Saint Martin (FS, IOTA NA-105, DIFO FS-001) and afterwards the island of
St. Maarten (PJ7, NA-105). They have booked two places at the east coast
of each island to have a free shot into Europe. The group will run two
stations consisting of 2x IC735, 1x IC706, 2x TY 900 Linear Amp. 900W, a
Titanex V80 E, a Hexbeam 5 Band Yagi, a R7 vertical as well as two
fiberglass rods with plenty of wire. Modes will be CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK31
and SSTV. The activation from St. Maarten (PJ7) will also count for

04/03/2006: Braco, OE1EMS, and others plan to be active from Austria in
the ARRL DX SSB Contest (March 4-5th) as a Multi-2 entry. QSL direct

04/03/2006: Alfredo, WP3C, plans to be active from Puerto Rico (IOTA
NA-099) in the ARRL DX SSB Contest (March 4-5th) as a

HS0ZDZ / G3NOM - Update:
Ray HS0ZDZ (G3NOM) suffered a severe heart attack on November 11, 2004,
while travelling from his home in Nakhon Nayok to Bangkok with his XYL
Lawan, E21UHL. After spending over 6 weeks in the hospital, during which
time he regained consciousness after being in a coma, he was discharged
at the end of January 2005 and Ray is now recovering at his home in the
care of his wife. However, Ray is still not yet able to fully
communicate verbally although he is able to say a few words. He is now
recuperating at home and is in a stable condition. [Tnx VE1DX]

Award for the year 2006: "AGCW's 35 birthday"
AGCW celebrates its 35th birthday and sponsors an award for the year
2006.
Licensed hams and SWLs using the mode CW (A1A, F2A) may work this award
on WEEKDAYS (Monday 0001 UTC thru Friday 2359 UTC).
All CW QSOs in 2006 count, all bands qualify.
Requirements:
Class A: QSOs with 35 individual AGCW members
Class B: QSOs with 35 DXCC countries
Class C: QSOs with 35 stations forming the string "ARBEITSGEMEINSCHAFT
TELEGRAFIE AGCW - DL" with the last letter of their calls.
Class W: achieve 35 points by contacts with AGCW club stations or
special event event stations.
Valid stations:
DF0ACW, DF0AGC, DL0AGC, DK0AG, DL0CWW and DL0DA count 5 points
DQ35AGCW and DR35AGCW count 10 points.
Applications must include log excerpts with following entries:
Day of the week, date, time (utc), call, band, AGCW memebership number
if applicable, Name, personal callsign and address.
Applications for multiple award classes are possible.
