15th as HI3/KB2MS from the Dominican Republic (NA-097). Activity will be

29/07/2004: Mike, RA3AKF, will be active July 29th to 31st as R3ARC/p
from Roshal' City (RDA reference MO-42, for the Russian Districts
Award), the Shatursky Area (RDA MO-92) and possibly Shatura City (RDA
MO-51) all located in the Moscowskaya oblast (MO). QSL via RA3AKF,

29/07/2004: Bruce, KD6WW, will be QRV July 29 to August 2nd as
VY0/KD6WW from Nunavut (Baffin's Coastal Islands) East Group (IOTA
NA-130). The operation will be mostly CW but some SSB. QSL is via KD6WW
either direct or the bureau. You can also request a bureau card by

30/07/2004: Sven, DD6VSF will be QRV July 30th to August 1st as
DD6VSF/p from Fehmarn Island (IOTA EU-128, GIA O-01 for the German
Islands Award). Activity will be on 40, 20 and 17 meter SSB and PSK31.

30/07/2004: Alex RA1WZ and Leonid RA1WU will be active July 30th and
31st as homecall/p and homecall/1 ??: July 30th from the Holmsky Area
(RDA reference NV-22, for the Russian Districts Award), Novgorodskaya
oblast (NV); and the Loknjansky Area (RDA PS-10), Pskovskaya oblast
(PS); July 31st from the Velikoluksky Area (RDA PS-04) and the

30/07/2004: Special event station UE4HFC and UE4HDA will be active July
30th to August 1st from the Stavropolsky Area (RDA reference SR-42, for

30/07/2004: Manfred, VA3RMF will be active between July 30th and August
2nd as VA3RMF/W1 from Mount Desert Island (IOTA NA-055, USI ME-021S,

01/08/2004: Look for 9A/Z32FD to operate from Pag Island (IOTA EU-170,
IOCA CI-082, MIA MC-282) starting August 1st. Length of stay was not

01/08/2004: Ralph, NM5RC, will be QRV August 1st to 6th activating US
Islands in Idaho and Wyoming. He hopes to activate a new Nevada Island
on August 14th or 15th. Days and times will vary due to travel, weather,
lake levels, wife's family reunion, and Mexico RV group reunion.
Activity will be mainly 20 meter SSB, around 14.260 MHz. Ralph will send

01/08/2004: Alex RA0WA & Co. will be active between August 1st and 15th

from Noirmoutiers Island (IOTA EU-064, DIFM AT-020). Activity will be on

02/08/2004: Chris, G1VDP plans to operate from the Trevose Head
Lighthouse (ENG-157) on August 2nd as G1VDP/p. Look for him on or around
7064 kHz in his mornings and 21265 kHz in his afternoons. If he can get
his G5RV erected, he will try also 14263 kHz. QSL via home call, direct

03/08/2004: Feco, HA8KW, will be active as 9A/HA8KW from Pag Island
(IOTA EU-170, IOCA CI-082, MIA MC-282) starting August 3rd for about one
week. Activity will be on 30 through 10 meters. QSL via his home

03/08/2004: Uwe, DH9YAT, will be active between August 3rd and 20th as
CU7/DH9YAT from the Azores (EU-003). Activity will be on 40, 20 and 15

03/08/2004: JF0BPT/0 will be on Tobishima Island (IOTA AS-117, JIIA
AS-117-088) between August 3rd and 5th, weather dependent. QSL via the

05/08/2004: Special event station, N9L, will be operating from several
lighthouses along the Door Peninsula of Wisconsin from August 5th to
14th, including activation of the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse (USA-252)
during the National Lighthouse/Lightship Weekend on Saturday and Sunday,
August 7-8th. The will also activate the Chambers Island lightouse
(ARLHS USA-150) August 11th. Jim, W5AZN (ARLHS #484) and Patty, W5AZO
(ARLHS #485) will be active at a different lighthouse for a few hours
each day between 14:00-21:00 UTC. Frequencies will be centered on 14270
or 7270 kHz (+/-). A QSL for each lighthouse as well as a certificate
representing all of the lighthouses will be available to confirmed

LOOKING AHEARD -
09/08/2004: Steve, W3HF, will be active as W3HF/4 from Bogue Banks
Island (IOTA NA-112, USI NC-010S, Grid Loc. FM14, Carteret County),
North Carolina, from August 9th to 15th. Operation will be QRP on 40
through 15 meters. Equipment will be a vertical and a Yaesu FT-817.
Primary mode will be PSK, with some SSB possible. (Steve requests that
stations who want to schedule an SSB contact e-mail him before the trip
at w3hf at arrl.net . This operation qualifies for the APE (August PSK
Expedition) endorsement from the PODXS 070 Club
(http://www.podxs.com/html/070_club.html). There is also a possibility
of 6m (PSK and/or SSB) operation, from either Steve or his ten-year-old
son Matthew (KB3JJV). QSL via home callsign, direct or bureau, or via

10/08/2004: Bill KG4DX (W4WX), member of the Florida DXPedition Group,
will be at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (NA-015) August 10th to 14th. Bill will
operate from the GTMO club station. Look for him on SSB, RTTY, and

13/08/2004: Jakob, OZ7AEI will be active between August 13th and 15th
from Sjaelland Island (IOTA EU-029, DIA SJ-001, WLH LH-1867) as
OZ7AEI/p. He will also activate 3 lighthouses in the area of Stevns,
namely Stevns GL P (ARLHS DEN-042), Stevns NY (ARLHS DEN-123) and Rodvig

20/08/2004: Look for Larry, KJ4UY, to be QRV August 20th to 28th as
V47UY from Nevis Island (NA-104). Activity will be on all bands and

21/08/2004: Team RZ9MXM will be active in Russian District Award
Contest (August 21st) as RZ9MXM/9 from the Kyshtovsky Area (RDA
reference NS-26, for the Russian Districts Award), Novosibirskaya oblast

23/08/2004: Look for AT0RI to be activated from Rameswaram, Pamban
Island. Tamil Nadu State, AS-New. Activity will be between August 23rd
and 31st, with 13 permitted operators on the island. Further information

31/07/2004: Look for the Welland County Amateur Radio Club, VE3WCR, to
be active from 13:00 UTC July 31 to 21:00 UTC August 1, 2004, to
celebrate the Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival. Look for them on

17/09/2004: Industry Canada authorizes Special Event Callsign with 4
character suffix for QCWA convention. QCWA National Capital Chapter 70
has been authorized by Industry Canada to use the special event call
sign VE3QCWA from September 17, 2004 through October 17, 2004 for the
QCWA International Convention that will be held in Ottawa 15-16-17
October, sponsored by National Capital Chapter 70. Although a QCWA
convention, the Convention in Ottawa will be open to all radio amateurs.
