25/05/2003:  Bob, AA4RW, and family will be vacationing near Bar Harbor, Mt.
Desert Island, Maine, over the Memorial Day weekend. He plans on activating
at least two lighthouses in that area on Sunday and Monday (May 25th and
26th). Depending upon weather, band conditions (and the XYL's patience) he
may be able to also do two more. Bob will try for: Prospect Harbor
lighthouse (USA-674, Loc. FN54xj); Bass Harbor lightouse (USA-041, IOTA
NA-055, USI ME-021S, Loc. FN54tf); Winter Harbor lighthouse (USA-900, Loc.
FN54wj); and Egg Rock lighthouse (USA-268, Loc. FN54wi). All the lighthouses
are located in Hancock County, Maine. Activity will be primarily on 20
meters at 14.270 (+/-) but will also probably try to go to 40 meters, again
all depending upon band conditions. Operation will be for a minimum of 2

25/05/2003:  Look for DF5WA to be QRV May 25th to 31st as EJ/DF5WA from the
Aran Islands (EU-006) and June 1st to 7th as EI/DF5WA from the Irish coast

25/05/2003:  Giovanni (IZ2DPX), Michele (IK2GPQ), Antonello (IK2DUW) and
Lorenzo (IK5MDF) will operate as IP1TIN from Tino Island (EU-083, IIA
SP-002) May 25th, and again July 26th to 27th. They plan to be active on
10-40 metres SSB, CW, RTTY and PSK. Tino Island is located in the Region of

25/05/2003:  Fred, IK7JWX, reports that 14 operators will be QRV May 25th to
June 8th, as ZA3/homecall, from Durazzo, Albania, and from the lighthouse
Cape of Durres (ALB-002). Operation will be on HF, WHF, WARC, 2 meters and 6
meters (50 Mhz. only from May 31st to June 8th), ES TROPO, WW Loc. JN91RH,
SSB, CW, RTTY and PSK-31. The team consists of Fred IK7JWX, Gilberto IK7LMX,
Angelo IK7CTE, Raffaele IZ7BNH, Gadaleta Simon IZ7ATN, Antonello IK2DUW,

the demonstration "Day of the Forces of Peace from the foreign countries",

from bordering nations with Albania, that is Kosovo - Greece - Macedonia -
Yugoslavia. All the radio amateurs in the world, particularly om-military

31/05/2003:  Clube Radioamadores do Entroncamento will be QRV May 31st,
using the special call CS7AL, from the Castel Alcanede (DCFP reference

Portuguese Castles Award. Operation will be on 40 and 20 meter SSB, CW and

31/05/2003:  The Motor City Radio Club Station W8MRM will again be operating
on the air from a station set up on Grosse Ile (USI MI-005R, Wayne County),
Michigan, at the annual IslandFest. The festival committee will be issuing
certificates to stations making a two way contact with W8MRM. The IslandFest
will run May 31st between 14:00 and 21:00 UTC and June 1st between 15:00 and
19:00 UTC. Look for activity around 7.044, 7.244, 14.044 and 14.244 MHz. For
certificate send SASE and be sure to include contact number (IslandFest -

31/05/2003:  Mike, AD5A, and his sons Micheal, AB5EB, and Jake, KB5SKN, will
activate Isla del Maiz Pequena (NA-013, Grid EK82), Nicaragua, between May
31st and June 2nd. This is a RARE island and only about 10% of the IOTA
chasers have it. All operators are experienced IOTA operators and have
activated several island before. The family operators will use an IC-706
with an amp and a vertical antenna. The team will be active on RTTY and

01/06/2003:  Steve, OM3JW, reports that Ivan OM3CGN, Afif 7X2RO, and three
other local operators would be active as 7W4HI from Algerian Habbibas Island
between June 1st and 5th. Activity will be around the usual IOTA
frequencies, SSB and CW. QSL arrangements will be announced after the
DXpedition - if it takes place, as on 21 May northern Algeria was hit by a

festivities in Ranville .This year it's 59 years ago that Europe was
Liberated (D-Day). This special event station will be on-air on all major HF
bands and 50 MHz from Thursday the 5th of June till Saturday evening the 7th

Apartments, Bermuda (NA-005), June 13th to 16th. He plans to operate mainly
in the June VHF QSO Party as a Single-Op/Low Power entry. His station will
be an IC-706 MII w/100 watts, a 5 element M2 on 6 meters and 9 element M2 on
2 meters. He hopes to be active on June 13th during the peak times for
Europe and plans to be active during the entire contest period. Tear down

15/06/2003:  Look for 8A9R to be QRV from Rote Island (OC-241, WW Loc: PH19)
in the middle of June, 2003, for about 10 days. This will be a multi
operator and multi band operation, with YC9BU (Kadek) as one of the
operators and also the QSL manager. The team will be operating near an old

Laert / Le Grand Moulin (DMF reference 62-079, for the French Mills Award).

Island of La Cotorra (SA-063), located at the east-coast of Venezuela in the

(AF-083), Tunisia, using the call sign of the Djerba Scouts Radio Club,

special permision of Mustapha, DL1BDF, who's the coordinator for Scout Radio
Clubs organization in Tunisia, all the cards for Francois' operation will go

SILENT KEY -
The ZK1AYL and ZK1SIM operation from Rarotonga (OC-013) by June, VK4SJ, and
Doug, VK4BP, has ended in tragedy. Doug was killed when a truck hit his
motor scooter while still in the South Cook Islands. June is now on her way
back to Queensland with Doug's remains for a funeral near their home at
Caloundra.
