10/14/2002: Ron, ZL1AMO, will be active for a few weeks beginning October
14th from Fiji (OC-016) as 3D2RW. He mentioned he may try to go to Nauru
(C21), but this depends on the available accommodation. His activities are

10/14/2002: Pedro, HK3JJH, reports that he will be activating a new IOTA
October 14th and 15th. He will be active as HK3JJH/4 either from Titumate
Isis or Napu Rock (SA-new) in the Caribbean. QSL only direct to: P.O. Box

10/14/2002: This year the Low-Land DXpedition Team
(http://www.qsl.net/lldxt/) will operate from Dominica (NA-101) and
Montserrat (NA-103) between 14 October and 1 November. Bouke/PA0ZH,
Ronald/PA3EWP, Enno/PA5EA and Rob/PA5ET will start their activity from
Dominica (J7) on 14 October and will move to Montserrat (VP2M) on the 21st.
Henk/PA3GCV and Martin/PA4WM will join the team on 23 October. The
Montserrat activity will end on 1 November and will include a serious M/S
entry in the CQ WW SSB Contest. Calls are likely to be known upon arrival.

10/14/2002: Leo, W3LEO, will once again be active from Portpatrick in
southwest Scotland from about October 14th to November 16th. His callsign
will be MM0LEO, and he plans to be in the CQWW SSB Contest. He will use an
Icom 706 (100 watts), a R-5 vertical [10, 12, 15, 17, 20 meters], and a 40
meter dipole [inverted-V configuration]. QSL via W3LEO. Worked All Britain

10/14/2002: For the French Science Week, the Chalons sur Saône ARC
members will be on the air as TM5BIB, from the Archeological Site of
Bibracte on the top hill of Mont Beuvray. Bibracte is a site where an old
Gallic town was found dating back to early BC. Operation will be CW and SSB
on all HF bands, between October 14th and 20th. QSL cards go via the French

10/15/2002: John, GM0VIV/p, and Ken, GM0AXY/p, (providing the weather stays
acceptable and there are no major holes in the propagation) are planning to
activate Inchkeith (IOSA FF5) October 15th. They hope to be operational some
time between 10:00-10:30 UTC on the usual IOSA frequencies. 7.072 +/- will
be the main frequency for the UK stations unless there is another
propagation hicup; in which case they will be able to go to 3.772 as an
alternative for Scottish / UK stations. 14.260 and 21.260 MHz +/- will be

10/15/2002: Franck FK8HC, Paolo IZ0EVI, Luca IZ6DSQ and Simon IZ7ATN will
operate as TX0AT from Long Island in the Chesterfield Islands (OC-176). They
will be leaving New Caledonia on 13 October and expect to reach Long Island
(DIFO FK-082) after a couple of days' voyage. Plans are to operate from Long
Island between October 15th and 22nd; a side trip to Loop Island (DIFO
FK-006) is also being planned. Contributions will be gratefully accepted and

10/16/2002: Jim, N6TJ, will be on the air again as ZD8Z from Ascension
Island (AF-003) between October 16th and 29th. Besides participating in the
CQWW-SSB contest (October 26-27) he will become QRV also in CW, SSB, on the
WARC bands and on 160/80m. A good chance to work him should be on 28490 kHz

10/17/2002: The Philippine Amateur Radio League, Inc. (PARL) and other
members of Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB) are planning to be activate
October 17th to 20th from Lubang Island (OC-126) using the call DX0L. QSL

10/17/2002: Silvano, I2YSB, and Adriano, IK2GNW, will operate as FO/I2YSB/p
(CW-RTTY-PSK31) and FO/IK2GNW/p (SSB) from Rurutu (OC-050), Austral Islands
between October 17th and 28th, 2002. While there they will try to operate
also from Maria Island (OC-new). QSL FO/I2YSB/p direct to I2YSB (Silvano

10/17/2002: Bert, PA3GIO, reports he will be active as FR/PA3GIO/p from

10/17/2002: Roger, W7VV (ZK1VVV), Bob, W7TSQ (ZK1TSQ), John AA7PM (ZK1APM),
Ralph, VE7XF (ZK1AXF) and Rick, KT7G (ZK1ATG?) plan to be active October
17th to 31st from Manihiki Atoll, North Cook Islands (OC-014). Operation

10/17/2002: The Kermadec Dx Association is undertaking a DXpedition to
Chatham Island (OC-038) between October 17th and 29th, 2002 as ZL7C. They
will be participating in the CQWW SSB contest and closing down immediately
after the contest. This DXpedition will be International in make up with
members from USA, England, Germany, Japan, New Zealand and possibly Canada
participating. Operation will be 160 through 10 meters on all bands where
possible, realising of course that this may not be the best time to
undertake such an event due to the position of the solar cycle. Address for

10/18/2002: SM0WKA will be visiting Cuba between October 18th and November
10th. He will be hosted by Raul, CO8ZZ, and the Radio Club Las Tunas. He
will use the T48W callsign (on 160-6 metres, with an emphasis on the low

10/18/2002: Koh, JA7KAC, will be active as HI8/K2AC from the Dominican
Republic (NA-096) between October 18th and 22nd. Operation will be on 80

10/19/2002: The M/M branch of "Tikirriki Contest Club" will be active
again, during the CQWW-SSB contest (October 26-27), as IH9P from Pantelleria
Island (African Italy - CQ Zone 33, IOTA AF-018, IIA TP-01, WAIP TP, DCI
TP-007). Operators (DF4OR, EU1SA, EW2AA, JA3USA, K3PN, KR7X, W7ZB, OL5Y,
I2IFT, IK2ANI, IK2CIO, IK2HKT, IK2RZP, IK2SND, IK2YCN, IK7JWY, IK8ETA,
IN3QBR, IN3SAU, IN3XUG, IN3ZNR, IT9BLB, IT9WPO, IT9ZGY and IT9ZMX) are
expected to arrive on the island October 19th. Some CW, RTTY, SSTV and PSK31
activity will be possible before the contest, using homecall/IH9. Operations
are widely supported by "Sezione A.R.I. di Bergamo" and "I.T.C. Industria

10/19/2002: Bill, KA6SPQ, reports that plan's are to be at St George Reef
Lighthouse (IOTA NA-184, WLH LH-0077, USA-CA: Del Norte county, California)
October 19 and 20, 2002 (weather permitting). Access will be via helicopter
with very hazardous sea conditions on and off the rock. Plans include taking
HF equipment for the purpose of putting this lighthouse and or Island on the
air. Operators will include, Joe Emond--KE6SGA and Bill Wortell--KA6SPQ.
Future plans also include putting Battery Point lighthouse and or Island on
the air before the end of the year (2002). Battery Point is a walk up Island

10/19/2002: John, WD0FPY/p, has changed his New England trip schedule due
to a family illness. He will be there from October 19th to 21st. John plans
to start operating at about 20:00 UTC on the 19th from Brenton Reef
lighthouse (USA-082, State of Rhode Island) and Beavertail lighthouse
(USA-048) located on Conanicut Island (IOTA NA-031, USI RI-007S, State of
Rhode Island, Newport county). He will attempt to activate as many
lighthouses in that area that he can. QSL via WD0FPY (please include SASE or

10/20/2002: Ramon, XE1KK, will be active from the Galapagos Islands
(SA-004) between October 20th and 30th as HC8/XE1KK. Operation will be on
HF, 6 meters and UO-14 satellite. QSL via homecall bureau or direct. [tnx

10/20/2002: Tom, WB8N, reportsthat he will be active from St. Maarten
(NA-105) as PJ7/WB8N between October 20th and 25th. Activity will be on
20/15/10 meters +/- 5 kHz from the usual DX frequencies. Operations will be

10/20/2002: Hiro coming back to XY and will be QRV between October 20th and
November 5th, 2002. Call sign will be XY1M (M -- is Myanmar). His equipment
will consist of transceiver + KW amplifier, antenna will be a tribander on
top of the 9th floor of the hotel in Yangon. QSL via XW2A (Box 2659,

10/21/2002: A five man team from the Magnolia DX Association will be active
from Treasure Cay, Abaco Island (IOTA NA-080) in the Bahamas between October
21st and 28th. They will be participating in the CQWW-SSB contest (October
26-27) in the new Multi-2 catagory using the callsign C6ARB. Team members
will be active the week before the contest as homecall/C6A on 160-10 meters,
CW and SSB. Team members are: Randy/W5UE, Stan/K5NY, Bernie/KK5EW, Joe/N5ID
and Terry/W8JE. QSLs for C6ARB are via W5UE, and individual team member
activity are via their home callsigns.
10/21/2002: A team of operators consisting of VE3BY, VE3DXE, VE3CBA, VE3RS,
VA3RMF, VE3TV, VA3KO, VE3TPZ, VA3RD, VA3ZV, VE3SRE, VE3XAP, VE3HAE, VE3KJS,
VA3TSG, G3SXE, K8DD, AC8W, N8RA, and NB1B will be active October 21st to
31st from CQ Zone 2 (Grid Square FO10MI, 50d 22m N, 76d 58m W). They will
also be participating in the CQWW-SSB contest (October 26-27). Before the
contest look for CJ2KCE (QSL via VA2KCE), CJ2BY (QSL via VE3BY) and CJ2SRE
(QSL via VE3SRE) to be active on 2m, 6m, Satellite, RTTY, PSK31, SSTV, CW,
and the WARC bands. During the contest they will be using the special call
VC2C on 160 through 10 meters (contest bands), SSB only. This call
commemorates the October 31, 1902, completion of the Trans-Pacific Cable.
This cable was the first telegraph cable between Canada and Australia/New
Zealand. The British Empire was now linked together by an all-British
telegraph line, from Australia to New Zealand to Norfolk Is to Fiji Is to
Fanning Is then on to Vancouver, Canada. For more info see -

10/22/2002: Members of the FDXPG, Bill W4WX (W4WX/HI9), Clarence W9AAZ
(W9AAZ/HI9), Cory N1WON (N1WON/HI9), and Bob K9MDO (K9MDO/HI9) will be
active from Dominican Republic (NA-096) between October 22nd to 30th. They
will be a multi-single entry in the CQWW Contest. HI9X will be used during
contest. Look for them on all bands, including 6 meters, on CW, SSB, PSK-31,

10/23/2002: Koh, JA7KAC, will be active as HH2/K2AC from the Haiti (NA-096)
between October 23rd and 30th. Operation will be on 80 through 10 meters, CW
and SSB. He also plans to participate in the CQWW-SSB contest (October
26-27) as a Single Op/All Band entry, using the call K2AC/HH2. QSL via

10/24/2002: Michael, HB9DKX, will be touring the Pacific between October
24th and November 11, 2002. He plans to visit Tonga and Niue. The callsign
for Tonga (A3) and Niue (ZK2) are not known at this time. Operating
schedule: October 24th to 26th from Tongatapu (OC-049), October 25th to
November 1st from Niue (OC-040), November 2nd to 7th from Ha'apai (OC-169)
and November 7th to 11th from Vava'u (OC-064). Frequencies: SSB: 3.580,
7.080, 14.280, 21.280 and 28.480 MHz; CW: 3.515, 7.015, 14.015, 21.015 and

10/24/2002: Takeshi, JI3DST, will be active between 06:00 UTC October 24th
to 00:00 UTC October 27th as JI3DST/8 from Okushiri Island (AS-147,
Okushiritou Okushiri-cho Okushiri-gun Hokkaido). Operation will be on 40,

10/24/2002: From October 24th to November 1st, look for Didier, F5BJW, to
be active as TM2A from Re Island, IOTA EU-032, DIFM AT-022 (French
metropolitan Islands award). Didier will operate SSB but will not enter the

10/24/2002: A team IOTA composed by Nando, IT9YRE, and Claudio, I1SNW,
members of Diamond Dx Club, will be active as V63RE and V63WN from some
Micronesia New One IOTA islands. They will be following this schedule:
Nomwin Island (Hall Islands Group) 24/10/2002 until 27/10/2002; Etal Island
(Mortolok) 30/10/02 until 04/11/2002. The work conditions for this activity
will be: Yaesu FT900AT - ICOM IC-706 - Kenwood TS-50 - Generator Honda 2

bands. He will participate in the CQWW-SSB contest as SOAB High Power.

10/25/2002: Sho, JA7HMZ, will be active October 25th to 31st as V63DX from
