Hello All:

 

The last time that I sent a DXBase 2007 ADIF File Upload to LOTW was when I
was running Windows 7. I am now running Windows 10. Is there an updated
version of Auto LoTW that will run on Windows 10? Is the Selection Wizard in
DXBase compatible with Windows 10? 

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Mark,

I can't speak about AutoLoTW since I have not used that routine, but my 
guess is that it works just fine with Win10 (Joe can address that 
issue).? The DXBase2007 Selection Wizard functions on 
Windows10.....after all it is just generating a text file (ADIF file) 
that you will upload to the ARRL website.

Just a heads-up about a callsign that are in the AMBIGUOUS category for Prefixes ...

Just saw that the callsign TO19A will be used from ?Reunion Island (AF-016) 
from 27 April to 8 May. This callsign will default to
France(F) because of the Alias Map table mapping.

This callsign is not currently MAPPED in the CALLMAP table -- so, if you want,
simply make a dummy QSO with this callsign and change the PREFIX column
of your logbook mdb file to FR and then when the pop-up asks you if you want
to save this TO19A mapped to FR -- say YES/OK ---- Then delete that dummy QSO ..

The CALLMAP table will now be updated in advance so that if you work this
station -- it will have the correct PREFIX in your logbook QSO window ...

Hello All:

 

The other morning when I opened DXBase, everything loaded and seemed to be
functioning properly. I was able to download DX Spots into the "Internet
Message Window" using the "Show DX" command as usual. However, when I
selected one of these DX Spots in the "Internet Message Window", I received
a message which read: "Unable to identify the country prefix for call sign
<09-Mar-2019>. If the callsign is valid you should add an entry to the call
map or alias mapping database" and the DX Spot would not load into the
"Summary Window" . I receive the same message for any of the DX Spots
brought into the "Internet Message Window" with the "Show DX" command.

 

For some reason, it appears that the software associated with the "Internet
Message Window" seems to be looking at the "Date Field" in the database
rather than the "Callsign Field". 

 

If I select a DX Spot received directly from the internet, that is in the
"Internet Message Window", the spotting stations call sign and its
associated information will load into the "Summary Window". But it is only
the spotting stations call sign and its associated information and not the
DX Spots call sign and associated information. 

 

Also, when I select a DX Spot in the "DX Info Window", the DX Spot's call
sign and associated information loads correctly into the "Summary Window".
Which may mean that the K7HPH Database has not been corrupted and that
something else is causing the problem.

 

I tried loading a clean backup of the K7HPH MDB file, but the issue was
still there. I then did a complete Uninstall and Reinstall of DXBase to see
if that would solve the problem. But it did not. There must be some
parameter of the old DXBase that is not removed with the Uninstall that is
causing the problem to continue.

 

I'm not sure what might have happened to cause this issue! Does anyone have
any experience with this kind of problem? If so, how were you able to fix
it?

For the SAT users with DXbase2007 .. The new Satellite? QO-100? has caused 
a slight problem for DXbase2007 ...
The SAT field in DXbase2007 was / is limited to 5 characters .. SO, QO-100 can NOTbe used in the SATNAMES.dat? file .. You must use QO100 .. 

NOW -- here is the problem ..
For those DXbase2007 users who also use my Autolotw program - I have made anew autolotw program file which changes the QO100 to read QO-100 as I makethe adi file in my program .. The newest Autolotw program file can be downloadedfrom

For those DXbase2007 users who ARE NOT using my Autolotw program,When you EXPORT an adi file - and you have QO100 in the SAT column,BE SURE to manually go into the newly made adi file and manually changeQO100 to read QO-100 .. Then you can let TQSL make the TQ8 file..

FOR ALL ::?? BE SURE that you have downloaded the NEWEST TQSL program andthe NEWEST config file from the LOTW website..? This newest config file contains the entry for SAT? QO-100.

I rcvd an email via the Clublog reflector that said:

Just letting you know that the entity definition for ADIF country code 502 is now "North Macedonia".
I went to the ITU website and they also have Z3 now as reading? "North Macedonia"
I am sure that the ARRL (in due time) will update their listing also..
I am going to change my DXbase2007 Prefixes Database as follows:
Main Menu/ Tools/ Database Access/ Country Prefixes
In the Primary TAB - scrolldown to Z3 and simply go into the Country column for Z3 andchange Macedonia to read now as? North Macedonia ..? Place your mouse cursor in the Country column of theprefix either above or below Z3 - to SAVE your modification.

Sorry to be facetious, but does this infer that there is, or soon will be, a ?South Macedonia??  Perhaps a new entity?  If not, why bother?

That's not enough. What happens if Neal (or Joe, now that he has the key
maker) changes his mind, or dies?

Neal should
1. Produce a version that doesn't require registration and release it, and
2. Make DXbase open source. That is, put the source code on GitHub so that
other developers may do the work of improving it and updating it.
