Neither are currently very active I guess due to few issues with this old but reliable software and no recent upgrades or improvements. If you have a question or issue you will probably get a positive response from many still using DXBase but like a lot of other outdated software out there - not a lot to talk about. 73, Gary W8VI -----Original Message----- From: Dxbase [mailto:dxbase-bounces at mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of OZ4RT, J Arnvig Sent: Saturday, June 04, 2016 17:57 To: dxbase at mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dxbase] Is the list stilll working? Your solution to my problem worked fine and I have written it up in my DXbase note book along with lots of other problems and help you have given to users over many years. I still believe that DXbase is probably the best log program that exists for the DX enthusiast and I am mostly content with it as it is. Yes, it could do with a few minor tweaks and re-packaging for easy installation but I am happy to stay with it as it is. It would be interesting to see a list of what changes/improvements have been requested so that existing users could comment about whether needed and possibly add to the list. Here are the words: IOTA NEWS: DELETION OF KINGMAN REEF ---> "As forecast as a strong likelihood in the 2016 IOTA Directory (page 50), IOTA Management has decided to delete Kingman Reef (OC-096) from the IOTA list, effective 29 March 2016. Kingman Reef lost its current DXCC status on that date as it no longer satisfied the criteria under which it was added. IOTA Rule E.5.5 states that an island that qualifies for separate listing only because it is a DXCC entity will have a start and / or deletion date for credit in line with DXCC decisions and that in the event of an island DXCC entity being deleted, the IOTA group number will normally be archived and score credits moved on request to the IOTA group to which the island or islands are transferred. Kingman Reef is just such an island, and the transfer in this case is to Palmyra Atoll (OC-085). Before the end of June, credits for OC-096 will be deleted from all records. In accordance with the rule participants may claim credit with Kingman Reef QSOs for OC-085 if they need credit there - there are no date restrictions. To save questions, IOTA does not maintain a database of credits with deleted / archived IOTAs". [TNX G3KMA] To update your IOTA Database within DXbase2007 -- Main Menu / Tools / Database Access / Iota... Look for the OC096 Entry -- in the DELETED column CLICK there -- a CHECKMARK will showup .. to save that change click-on the entry above or below that OC096 entry. 73, Joseph Glockner WA6AXE wa6axe at verizon.net From k7hph at q.com Fri Jun 24 19:42:13 2016 From: k7hph at q.com (Mark Hammond) Date: Fri, 24 Jun 2016 17:42:13 -0600 Subject: [Dxbase] DXBase 2007 V 1.10 "Encountered an improper argument" Error Message-ID: <000001d1ce72$08cef6f0$1a6ce4d0$@q.com> Hello All: I was shutting down my computer (Windows 10) yesterday and inadvertently shut the main room power switch in the shack off before the computer had finished shutting down. When I started the computer this morning and opened DXBase 2007 V1.10, the windows were all blank, similar to the problem that John had the other day. I was able to restore everything from a recent backup, and now all of the windows are full and it seems to be working as it should. However, when I go to shut it down, I get the error message, "Encountered an improper argument" and the program will not shut down. I have to do a "restart" to shut it down. I think I remember reading about this problem some time ago and I think it had something to do with the file register. But I can't find the information. Fast Log Entry (FLE) is a FREE program and allows you to enter old QSO's really quickly. I've used it to enter many hundreds of QSO's and it does a very good job. You can download FLE from this link: http://www.df3cb.com/fle/ Make sure you read the step-by-step introduction to the program here: http://www.df3cb.com/fle/documentation/ Good luck with putting in all your old QSO's. It can be a real project but FLE will do it as fast as anything I know. I have no interest in FLE except as a very satisfied user. 73, Clark, W8TN On 6/25/2016 4:57 AM, Terry wrote: > > Hi Joe & every one > > First i would like to publicly thank Neal for helping me get my DX Base up & running i needed to re register it first so Neal provided the registration files & told me how to install them. > > So now i will leave Neal in peace & ask i know i seen it done but a long time ago, that is to use post dated logging i want to go through all my old log books & install the qso?s , as i put in the qso will it be put into the right sequence of time & dates when saved. > > I already got the date format sorted out that was easy, but post dated logging, it is years since i done it. > > Also when i press the DX Base logo to open up the program i get a pop up asking me if i want to make changes to computer & it then ask if i want to show my MBD files page. yet my other computers just open up with the DX Base Box showing program registered to me .(Which is what i want to show) > How do i get it to do that on this pc running win 7?. > > Any help with above very much appreciated > > This is 2nd email as my first did not get on reflector > > 73?s > Terry > G0LUQ > ______________________________________________________________ > Dxbase mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dxbase > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:Dxbase at mailman.qth.net > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > > From terry1749 at terry1749.plus.com Sat Jun 25 15:59:09 2016 From: terry1749 at terry1749.plus.com (Terry) Date: Sat, 25 Jun 2016 20:59:09 +0100 Subject: [Dxbase] post dated loging In-Reply-To: References: <5AD08CA1023B493A84616FCE12DDDDC3@Excalibur> Message-ID: HI Many thanks Joe, Clark , & Greg for the help, will give it a go when not so busy as today. 73?s Terry G0LUQ From: Joe WA6AXE Sent: Saturday, June 25, 2016 4:35 PM To: Terry Subject: RE: [Dxbase] post dated loging IF you want to log your old QSOs directly into DXbase2007: Go to Main Menu / Tools / Options / User Options -- Then go to the TAB "Log Defaults" -- In that TAB go to the area entitled: "Date Selection" and Radio Button the selection of "Last Date Logged" -- this will allow you to log OLD QSOs ..
