Subject: [Dxbase] Logging RI1AND

I cannot log RI1AND properly in DXBASE v.1.07. It is a Russian base in Antacctica but I cannot find RI1A or RI1AN in the database. When I try to make a new entry to the prefix database, I cannot find the continent AN (Antarctica) among the options. How do I deal with this to get the QSO properly recorded in DXBASE?

Arnie,

Make a DUMMY QSO entry for RI1AND - and in the PREFIX column select  KC4 ..
When DXbase2007 asks if you want to MAP   RI1AND  to KC4 - say YES !!  Then
DELETE that DUMMY QSO -- you are now ready to make a real QSO entry.

 Heads-up about a callsign that are in the AMBIGUOUS category for Prefixes ...

Just saw that the callsign TO7D will be used from La Desirade, Guadeloupe (NA-102) 
from  19 January to 9 March 2016... This callsign will default to France(F) because of 
the Alias Map table mapping.
 
This callsign is not currently MAPPED in the CALLMAP table -- so, if you want,
simply make a dummy QSO with this callsign and change the PREFIX column
of your logbook mdb file to FG and then when the pop-up asks you if you want
to save this TO7D mapped to FG -- say YES/OK ---- Then delete that dummy QSO ..
 
The CALLMAP table will now be updated in advance so that if you work this
station -- it will have the correct PREFIX in your logbook QSO window ...

As of January 2017, I am going to stop making the exe file and
EXCEL support files for the CQ DXMarathon Award.


Reasoning:


(1) MANY DXbase users have moved onto NEWER verisons of
EXCEL.. And, when I make my files - they are ONLY usable with
EXCEL 2003 and OLDER..


(2) Not many DXbase users are truely into this DXMarathon Award.


(3) DXbase is needing a new release.


(4) I have been supporting this Award since 2009 - and, will stop
after 7+ years.

I searched the archives and found the cure for the Summary window 
(deleting the SVIEWHF files)

Any ideas how to restore the DX Info window?  A file to delete?

Subject: [Dxbase] DELL brand computer, running Windows 10 Pro - problem

Has anyone, who is running a DELL computer, Windows 10 Pro -
run into a problem running some of my BRIDGES?

I was helping Ed (AB4IQ) today with some problems - but, the one
problem we could NOT correct - was him wanting to run the WSJT-X BRIDGE
or the JTDX BRIDGE .. 

HE CAN run my BRIDGES on his HP computer running Windows 10 Pro -
BUT NOT his DELL computer running Windows 10 Pro..

We turned off his Anti-Virus program - no help .. Then setup his A/V program to
ALLOW the Bridges as ok - still no help ...

And since he is running the SAME Anti-Virus program on his HP Computers -
then the A/V program is not a problem at all..

What I thought about during today's experiences - was the problem that the
EUROPEAN computers are having - when they also try to run my BRIDGES.
These EUROPEAN computers also can NOT run my BRIDGES..

Has anyone run into this problem and found a solution for it?
