In spite of all the comments, all of the clusters are connected to each other (minus some filtering we do for sources like DXSummit, W3LPL, etc that contribute less than valuable spots (at least as viewed by cluster sysops). We all have local CW Skimmer nodes available if you so desire. My recommendation is to use VE7CC's program, log on to your favorite cluster and set its filters. Then you can disconnect and connect directly from DXB and all your filtering will be set. You can also connect to VE7CC's program directly from DXB but I find that more trouble than its worth. Just use Lee's program to do your filters and you have it made. 73 *BIG LABOR DAY SALE IN PROGRESS!* Neal Campbell Abroham Neal LLC On Tue, Sep 16, 2014 at 3:15 PM, David VE3VID wrote: > Thanks so much for all your replies and input. > best regards & 73David > > http://www.ve3vid.webs.com/ > > > > From: ve3vid at hotmail.com > > To: dxbase at mailman.qth.net > > Date: Tue, 16 Sep 2014 15:11:44 -0400 > > Subject: Re: [Dxbase] DX Clusters? > > > > Excellent. In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <553749D512814E0E9392FB9ED8986EEF@AL9APC> David, Yes, I leave the VE7CC CC User program running alongside DXb in another monitor. Once you have CC User installed and running click on the Settings tab and look toward the right side in the "Technical Stuff" box. There it says "Listening on Port 7300". To get DXb working with CC User you will probably need to modify your HOSTS file. Click on File/Modify Hosts File... and look at some of the entries in this file. Make note of the path where this HOSTS file is located on your system and copy down a couple of nodes and their position in the file. Now close the Edit Host File and go back to the Internet tab in User Options. In the IP Host window scroll down and verify that the nodes you saw in the HOSTS file are reflected here in the correct positions. This is to make sure you will be editing the correct HOSTS file on your computer. If you are sure you have found the correct HOSTS file go back to File/Modify Hosts File... and enter the following line in the file. 127.0.0.1:7300 #CCUSER The 127.0.0.1 directs DXb to listen use this local address on Port 7300, the same one CC User is listening to. Save the new addition to the HOSTS file and close it. Now go back to the Internet tab and in the IP Host window find the new line you just added to the file and click on it to select it. This is now the DX Cluster DXb will communicate with. Now in DXb go to Windows/New Internet Custer... and the Internet Cluster window will open and log onto whatever DX cluster you are connected to via CC User, in my case VE7CC-1. Now in the Internet CMDs toolbar click on an icon like SH/DX and your DX Info window will populate with all the recent spots seen by CC User on the DX Cluster you are connected to. As new spots are received they are shown in DXb provided they pass all the filters you have setup in both CC User and DXb. 73, Gary AL9A -----Original Message----- From: David VE3VID Sent: September 18, 2014 6:32 AM To: Bob Morrow ; dxbase at mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Dxbase] DX Clusters? This callsign will default to Norfolk Island (VK9N) because of the Alias Map table mapping. This callsign is not currently MAPPED in the CALLMAP table -- so, if you want, simply make a dummy QSO with this callsign and change the PREFIX column of your logbook mdb file to VK9L and then when the pop-up asks you if you want to save this VK9DLX mapped to VK9L -- say YES/OK ---- Then delete that dummy QSO .. The CALLMAP table will now be updated in advance so that if you work this station -- it will have the correct PREFIX in your logbook QSO window ... 73 Joe WA6AXE From drmikeh at comcast.net Fri Sep 19 16:42:19 2014 From: drmikeh at comcast.net (Dr Michael Hunter) Date: Fri, 19 Sep 2014 15:42:19 -0500 Subject: [Dxbase] HamCall Message-ID: Moving from old XP to W 7 64 and having a problem with HamCall lookup in DxBase.
