Subject: [Dxbase] log on problem

When I click on the New internet cluster I get a could not connect to site. Then I hit ok and got Packet Comm Manager Initialization failed. Then I go to tools and  options and user options then to internet to change from wf5e to womw and it says unable to locate or open host files. I just used it the night before and it worked ok. Any ideas? I have been waiting for the newest version of DXBase 2007 to come out so I could think about a upgrade and move up to 2007 or 2008 on the computer. So where do I go from here? Is there any way to recover my previous layout configuration?  The layout has reverted to a 'fresh install' look.(I have all the files from the previous install under XP)

which Radios.ini  entry are you using to communicate with your rig?




The CAT commands appears to be the same as for the FT-2000 .. 


but, since I do not run any Yaesu equipment here - I can only ask the help

of the users of these two Yaesu rigs.




Also -- we know about the EXTRA options (on your Yaesu rig like the

FT-2000) that you have to adjust to get the comms to link-up correctly.

Do you ALSO have to adjust the FTDX1200 or FTDX3000 also for

these parameters (with the rig itself) ??

It sounds like you are not successfully connecting to the rig. Go to the
Tools menu and select the Set HF Frequency menu item. When that window
opens, click on the Retrieve button. If you do not shortly see your rig
frequency appear in the VFOa and VFOb boxes, you are not connected to the
radio.

Hmmm,  Thanks Dave, but it didn't work.
I copied the old .CO files into the new Windows 7 program folder.  It appears to have had no effect.  When the logging screen appears the sub windows (eg Logging, DX info, Summary) are still in the new install state.  As well, none of my RADIO1 or 2 CAT info is configured.
A previous reply to this thread suggested copying the .INI files from the old installation.Any thoughts....

Yes, also copy the ini file into the windows directory to get your personal

It still works FB so something is not right in your setup. Are you sure you
have the telnet feature active in VE7CCs program?

what ip/telnet address do you have dxbase set to for cluster. If I
understand this , you are trying to use ve7cc software??? or are you trying
to just connect to it, direct in dxbase

Hi Dave and others  :)
Is printing labels one of the difficulties with v1.07 and Win7?
DXbase works my printer for other things, eg Log extract printing,  but is not able to print labels for QSL cards.  In the printing sequence, once I press "Print", there is a quick flash of a small window in the middle of the screen, but nothing is sent to the printer.
The printer is working fine with other software

windows 7 blocks several feasture with the security on the program files folders, so you should remove and reinstall off the root of c..   this has been documented

I will preface this statement with the caveat that almost everything people
say doesn't work always seems to work on the developers computer, but I
just printed a sheet of labels on my Win7 ham computer so its probably
something in your local setup.

Make sure you are running DXB as admin user just to be sure!

Joe if you're not busy.  Is there anything about this label file that prevents it from printing?  It was created by Dxbase2007 v1.07 on WinXP.  I now have the same v1.07 installation on Win7.  I can get all the way to the end of the <print QSO Label> path, when I click print, having selected this label, nothing happens.
Any ideas?

The printer works with the stock dxb labels.  Prints fine.  It is the <user defined>  label I made for NA-174 contacts that will not print.


So now, the problem seems to be that label.   Originally made under my previous installation.

After thinking about it - I believe that you have a callsign in the OPRCALL
column for those NA-174 QSOs -- that IS NOT in your reg file for DXbase ..

THIS WILL prevent anything from printing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After thinking about it - I believe that you have a callsign in the OPRCALL
column for those NA-174 QSOs -- that IS NOT in your reg file for DXbase ..

THIS WILL prevent anything from printing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can get all the way to the end of the <print QSO Label> path, when I click print, having selected this label, nothing happens.

My best hope was that someone recognising what I described might know what was wrong.

I will preface this statement with the caveat that almost everything people say doesn't work always seems to work on the developers computer, but I just printed a sheet of labels on my Win7 ham computer so its probably something in your local setup.






Make sure you are running DXB as admin user just to be sure!

windows 7 blocks several feasture with the security on the program files folders, so you should remove and reinstall off the root of c.. this has been documented

I copied the old .CO files into the new Windows 7 program folder. It appears to have had no effect. When the logging screen appears the sub windows (eg Logging, DX info, Summary) are still in the new install state. As well, none of my RADIO1 or 2 CAT info is configured.















A previous reply to this thread suggested copying the .INI files from the old installation.

Use notepad to open your registration file.


Replace the following line:
