Except it's not working on Win7-64
I also believe it monitors port numbers not physical ports. Of course the
help file doesn't work in Win7 either...

Joe,
You can also use PortMon from sysinternals.com. I think it also works on
'virtual serial ports' on USB cables and such. But it does need to be a
serial link of some sort. Give it a try! It's free. And
'sysinternals.com' (redirects to a microsoft website) has lots of great free
utilities.

ALL:
Well, after all of this testing on the ICOMS ... I have now found that the
GUESS (on my part) about what might work for setting and reporting the
SPLIT condx of those ICOM rigs -- is JUST not working ... the coding works
to set the ICOM into split and out of split
--- but, what I can not SEE is the RETURN from the Radio(s) when we send a
command of (hex) 0F to the radio -- the radio (as advertised) should
return a 00 or 01 ...
And, the problem right now - is that I can not see (because I do not have
one of these
ICOMs) what the DXbase is truely receiving back from our command to the
radio ...
The bottomline now appears that I will simply have to FIND a DXbase user who
is running an XP machine, running on a TRUE Serial Port (between DXbase and
the Radio), is using a 7600, 7700, 7800, or 9100 ICOM rig, and who is
willing to let me use the TeamViewerQS program so that I can install the
program called
Free Serial Port Monitor --
where the monitor program TELLS me and THEN I CAN SEE -- what the output
from DXbase is -- and WHAT the response from the Radio truely is ....
Back to square-one !! Bummed-out to say the least!
Just FYI ---
