Joe,
I have been using Team Viewer for about a month to help folks with
various computer issues, many ham related. I've used it to set up LoTW
accounts and relieved a lot of stress doing that! Last night I removed
about 20 pieces of malware from a friend's computer who lives 1,200
miles away from me. I simply would never have been able to help him
without Team Viewer.
My take on what is the BEST advantage is that the User can sit
back and watch the Helper manipulate his computer while talking to him
on the phone. The Helper can explain what he is doing and why he is
doing that, while the User watches it being done in front of him. This
is a WONDERFUL Teaching Tool so that the User not only gets his problem
fixed but he learns more about how to use the computer and/or the
software at the same time.
Plus, it knocks down the time the Helper has to spend working on
the problem by as least an order of magnitude! Fantastic program.
I put a link on my web site so that Users can just download the
Team Viewer client software directly from that link. You could do the
same if you want. Instructions on how to do this are on the Team Viewer
"Download" page (see link below) about 1/2 way down the page in the
right-hand frame under the heading "Team Viewer Button."
http://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/index.aspx
I was so pumped up the first day I used Team Viewer to help
someone remotely, I couldn't get to sleep that night!
