The proper way to install more than one edition of Windows is to install the
older version first then the newer one(s). Windows 7 uses different startup
files than XP and previous. I am trying to find the article I had seen about
this very problem but have yet to locate it.
Please note, The following, if not done correctly, could result in an
unbootable computer and the OS's will have to be installed from scratch. As
always, you are applying this fix at your own risk.
I would run a repair of Windows 7 and that should reset the proper startup
files. When you insert the Windows 7 disk, there will be a prompt eventually
to repair. At that point select Install NOT repair. That one requires repair
disks. Later in the setup it will allow you to repair again. This is the
point at which you want to select repair. This will reset Windows files back
to what they are on the disk and any updates will have to be applied again.
I have found, though, that some Windows 7 disks do not allow repair. PITA, I
know. If you get to the point of selecting a partition to install to and no
repair option, then abort the procedure as there is no repair on that
version. At this point no harm will come to either OS.

Subject: [Dxbase] Computer question
Sorry for off topic but didn't know of any group where it would be on topic
HI.
I got a question and hope someone can help me with.
For a long time now I have had a multi-boot computer setup.
The problem that I have is a follows.
Say I am using Windows 7 64 bit today and I also have Windows 7 32 bit on
another HD.
Tomorrow I install Windows XP on another HD in this same computer but now
after this install
when my screen appears where I choose which OS I want to boot to only shows
the XP install.
If I go and install another instance of XP on another HD then both of them
will show on the multi-boot screen.
But now all my Windows 7 listings are gone even though they are still there
on their respective hard drives.
I have 3 internal Hard Drives which are divided into 6 partitions.
So the question is, how can I get the XP and 7 installations all to show in
the list when the multi-boot
screen comes up when booting.
Thanks in advance for any help.
