[Dxbase] DxBase vs DX Atlas

Ben,
The type of problem you describe is not one that has a clear cut answer
because there are so many possibilities. Any suggestions you might get
would simply be a guess. The interface between Atlas and DXbase was
designed through a software technique referred to as com-objects. A fancy
way of saying that Atlas installs some software and registry entries so that
other applications can "know" about it on a given machine. DXbase has code
that tries to access this info and provide an interface. There is a user
option screen in DXbase where you tell DXbase about the version of Atlas
being used because it is necessary for DXbase to make the correct interface
since some versions of Atlas were different. If that is set correctly, then
we are left with a few possibilities. One is hardware trouble where you
have some hard drive or memory problems going on. Another is that Atlas or
DXbase installations are not working correctly possibly due to bad
installations, corrupt sectors on the hard drive, etc... Could also be as
simple as your machine is running out of memory. Could also be that you
have some other software running on your machine that is not compatible with
Atlas and DXbase running together. Sorry there is no crystal ball to tell
you what to do or what is wrong. But maybe this helps you understand the
wide range of possibilities. The good news however is that there seem to be
a lot of others who use Atlas and DXbase without trouble. In fact, seems
you are the only one having a problem judging from the reflector posts. So,
at least you know that it is possible to run them both if your machine is in
good running order and both applications are properly installed and options
set correctly. Good luck.
