ALL DXbase2007 Users:

(1) First rule is -- before you do ANY updates, BACKUP your mdb files.. This practice has
been advised MANY, MANY TIMES - and, I will advise again to do this!!!!!!

(2) Now - since you accomplished #1 above -- and you find that you made a mistake that
you can not figure out what happened -- close-out DXbase and bring back the saved
Refdata.mdb file. Now - start over again.

(3) Now - If you did not save your Refdata.mdb before starting to make manual
updates to your database - you can try this: Close out DXbase and run Joe's
Updater - available at:

http://www.navycthistory.com/wa6axe/2007chkmdbs.html

(4) If #3 can not be done (for whatever reason) - then download a Generic Refdata.mdb
file from the DXbase YAHOO GRoup website at:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dxbase/files/

and do the updates to this Refdata.mdb file (which is from the March 2011 timeframe).

(5) If you are still at your wits-end -- wait until Neal brings out Version 1.09 of DXbase2007.

NOTE HERE: The technique of doing updates to the Refdata.mdb file are spelled out in the Help Files -
and, just after this NOTE, I will give again the info from my REVISED UPDATES email -- PSE be advised
that these words I will give are my own and are inclusive enough to get the user going ... there are
MANY ways to achieve the same thing -- you will find whatever is comfortable for you ...

//revised update info provided again here//

For those who want to make the manual addition of the new country/entity - here is
what I will be using (if you want to use it also) :

Main Menu / Tools/ Database Access / Country Prefixes .../ Primary TAB
Scrolldown to the bottom of this window and type-in the following info:

Prefix column: ST0S (Sierra Tango ZERO Sierra)
Country column: Rep of South Sudan (abbreviated version of Republic of South Sudan)
LAT column: +4.86
LON column: -31.6
Deleted column: -- NO Checkmark
Field Check column: -- Checkmark
Bureau column: -- NO Checkmark
CQ column: 34
ITU column: 48
ARRL-ID column: 521 ( *** ARRL has already issued this number for this entity ***)
Continent column: AF
TZDIFF column: +0300

*** SAVE the entry by clicking-on the entry right above this new entry.. THEN CLOSE the
Prefix Databases window to let DXbase recognize this new addition ***

*** Now - continue with the following steps by going back into the Prefix Databases ***

Main Menu / Tools/ Database Access / Country Prefixes .../ Alias Map TAB
Scrolldown to the bottom of this window and type-in the following info:

Map PFX: ST0S
Pri PFX: ST0S

*** SAVE the entry by clicking-on the entry right above this new entry.. ***

Main Menu / Tools/ Database Access / Country Prefixes .../ Call Map TAB

Scrolldown to the bottom of this window and type-in the following info:

Callsign: ST0R

Prefix: ST0S

*** SAVE the entry by clicking-on the entry right above this new entry.. ***

NOTE: These additions are VERY straight-forward. IF the ITU "does" come-out with a
brand new prefix for the Republic of South Sudan - we will be able to modify the
above without any problems ..

This info provided as FYI...
