[Dxbase] Logging the correct mode question ver 2007

I just made my first JT65a (JT65-HF) contact. When I logged it, the drop down only shows "Digital". So that's what I selected. Later doing some checking in the HELP files, I found that I can select the Default PSK Mode and Default PSK Submode. When I looked at the Submode drop down, I found JT65A and selected that. 

Is this the only way to set the correct "Digital" mode for JT65A, or any digital PSK mode? If I now go back to operating PSK31, I presume that I need to go back into Tools, User Options, General and set the Submode back to PSK31? Seems like a long way to go get the modes correctly set. Is this the correct process? If so, I would hope that it's improved when the new release comes out.
