If you're competing in the CQ DX Marathon contest (that goes by the number 
of zones and entities in a year), you need more than just comparing each 
received spot with a date in the previous QSO window. You need alerting. 
Yes, I have at least 100 Q's with Sardinia over the years, but if I'm 
competing for 2010, I need to get an alert if I haven't worked them yet in 
2010. It's as if all your DXCC and WAZ counters zero-out at 2359 on 12/31. 
Of course, those Marathon alerts need to be a lower-priority than all-times 
new or bands, modes, etc. I don't want to be alerted if Sardinia shows up 
and I'm in bed, but I sure as hell do want every bell and whistle to go off 
to wake me up when Wake Island comes on!

It gives you that info at the bottom of the screen when a spot for one you 
have worked comes thru the cluster It also tells you if its confirmed or not 
. 
maybe your saying you just want the current year? well the date is there....

I offer this idea as a "whenever you have time." For those of us that work a 
lot of DX and participate in the year-long CW contest, it would be great to 
have a "spot indication" that says whether or not this country has been 
worked in the current calendar year.
