Neil:

Far be it from me to advise a software developer how to design software
- but since you opened the subject of the sacrosanct GUI, I feel
compelled to jump in with this:

The MAJOR reason that I like DXBase and have stayed loyal to it since
the DOS days (even after trying competitors) is its simple yet powerful GUI.

If the user GUI is significantly changed from Jack's design concept, you
risk losing the "base" of DXBase. Perhaps you don't care, and maybe you
can create an even better mousetrap .. but be aware of the importance of
the existing GUI to a significant portion of the loyal users.

I believe that a significant portion of the loyal DXBase users feel the
same way; otherwise, they would have abandoned DXBase after Jack
discontinued its development years ago.

Personally, I'm happy with the program as is, although I would like to
see implementation of a band map (similar to Writelog) and a more
seamless way to access LOTW. If your changes to DXBase continue the
excellent existing GUI and otherwise enhance the program, I will be with
you. If not, I will stay with DXBase 2007, which was way ahead of its time.

Al, K6RIM
