[Dxbase] HELP! Bad data base

My computer shut off due to a power failure. Appearantly this corrupted the .mdb data file for DXbase 2007. Initialize Table was executed and got the death signal!  The data was then imported into a fresh blank file. When the file size of the new .mdb file was compared to the old .mdb file . . . . . the new one was much smaller. Is this normal?

old .mdb file 26,628 KB
new .mdb file  17,028

What's happening here? Is this supposed to be or is there something wrong?
