I have met a problem when installing DXbase 2006 on my new computer with Vista Home Premium SP1 64 bits
After i followed the procedure for installing registration key I am still in trial mode (12 days left).
Karl N1DL has a solution to the problem on the reflector, editing the Vista registry, but my registry structure looks somewhat different compared to his, and he could not tell me what to do, because he uses Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit, not Home Premium. So there we are: A new version, a new problem to solve.
I am a newcomer to Vista, but would like to continue using DXbase 2006 for a while (waiting for 2010).
Anyone who can tell me about successful registry editing in this version? Guess there are numerous users trying to work in this new environment...
These are my questions to Karl:
I met the problem with DXbase 2006 staying in trial mode
I have read you instruction dated Jan 6 2008.
As far as I can understand my registry structure is different from what you describe.
1) go the system prompt
2) click on "start search" and type in regedit and do a "enter"
3) go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and click on it
4) find the folder "Wow6432Node" and in it place a new folder
"Scientific
Solutions" and into this one another " Dxb2007"
My questions: Should the "Wow6432Node" folder be found under the "HKEY_LOCAL..."?
In my system there is no such folder. Should I add one - and the subfolders?
5) in that folder create a new entry called "Key" (you will have to
rename
the " new key#1" into "Key"), Note: this is not another subfolder - it
is only a key within the Dxb2007 folder
6) go under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to the existing 32 bit folder that says
Scientific Solutions and under Key copy the text string associated
with it,
to do this click on the name Key and a little edit window opens up. In
Value data you see the key value highlighted in blue. Copy this value
by right clicking on it.
7) go back to the new folder created in the Wow6432Node as Key and
paste the
text value into it.
Note: the newly entered folder and key value in the Wow6432Node folder
must look exactly like the one under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SOFTWARE,
Scientific Solutions - these entries are case sensitive - be accurate!
8) close the registry
Restart DXbase2007 and it will work.
