Hi everyone,
I am so proud to be at the helm of DXBase, thanks to Jack for deciding to
give me the opportunity and, of course, establishing such a high level of
professionalism over the years.
I started out as a DXBase user back in the DOS days and its amazing to see
the growth that has occurred since then. I was so excited about DXBase that
I used to have a Sunday morning sked with my buddy ON6TT, Peter, and Jack
every Sunday morning. What a ground-breaking product!
Just some background for you:
I have been in the IT world for 32 years, most of that spent in financial
telecom networks. Started as an IBM assembler programmer on System 360s in
the 70s, worked on writing operating systems, then network systems. I
retired from corporate life two years ago (I am 56) and have been looking
for something like DXBase for that time to pour my heart and soul into.
I have been a ham since 1968, with one period of inactivity in the mid-late
70s as I got married, established my career, etc.
My main interests, besides programming, are software-defined radios (I am a
huge fan of FlexRadio Systems radios) and digital modes, especially rtty
contesting. I retired from corporate life 2 years ago and have been looking
for such an opportunity as Jack has given me since then. I am dedicated
full-time to my software business, and can guarantee you that DXBase will be
the key product for my company.
I am working on updating my web site while the slowly moving wheel of domain
name transfers creeps along so hopefully will have something up in the next
2-3 days with more info from my side.
I am sure it will take some time to get grounded in the code and fully
understand every feature so do not expect DXBase 2009 but DXBase 2010 is
guaranteed. Jack mentioned he shared your feedback on things to be in that
release. I would appreciate any ideas you do have on how to continue
DXBase's dominance on logging software.
Thanks to Jack for the opportunity and to you for your patience as well as
commitment to a fantastic piece of software!
