[Dxbase] Digital mode software + DXBase

I've decided to find a use for my Elecraft K3 and figured I would use it
for portable operation and try some digital modes; things that it is
probably best suited for.
All I want to do is work some RTTY and PSK, have the radio polled for
frequency and log QSOs using DXB on my laptop. No spots, call lookups,
coffee making (XYL still does that) and so forth. So I've been trying
all of the available (free) stuff and have rejected most of them.
HRD is way too complicated. The DXLab suite was unstable on my system
and is also too complicated. The DXBPsk program is pretty old and
doesn't "print" as well as the later WinPSK 2.x.x but that doesn't
interface with DXB. DigiPan, FLDIGI, Hamscope, KCOMM, N1MM have all
been tried and found lacking for some reason or another. Some reasons
are pretty simple; being able to use a macro to clear the receive window
but no way to clear a transmit window, for example. Makes no sense.
Joe's AXETTY works beautifully, but does only RTTY. So I've kind of
zeroed in on MMVARI + MMD. By telling the program I have a Kenwood
radio, I get the frequency OK, but even though MMD says it's "connected"
to both DXB and MMARI, I fail to understand how to actually get QSOs
into the log.
Any tips?
