[Dxbase] Transition from DXBase 2007 to DXLab Suite

Every DXCC country is assigned a unique an unchanging "entity code" by the
ARRL DXCC desk; see <http://www.arrl.org/awards/dxcc/dxcclist.txt>
There is an ADIF field named DXCC that conveys a QSOs entity code. If each
QSO in an ADIF file specifies a entity code using the DXCC field, then your
DXCC statistics after importing into DXKeeper should exactly match the DXCC
statistics of whatever application exported the ADIF file.
If the DXCC field is missing from a QSO, then DXKeeper uses current
prefix-to-entity rules to determine the DXCC entity from the QSO's callsign.
There are two problems with this:
1. ambiguous callsigns -- e.g. TO, ZK1, or E5 callsigns -- where the entity
cannot be reliably determined from the callsign
2. QSOs logged at a time when different prefix-to-entity rules were in force
#1 requires each QSO to be manually updated with entity information from the
source application, as the same TO or ZK1 callsign could have operated from
different DXCC entities.
To address #2, DXKeeper includes a set of scripts that examine each QSO in
your log and update its DXCC entity to based on the prefix-to-entity mapping
rules in force at the time of the QSO. Step-by-step instructions for running
these scripts are provided in
<http://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/QSOImport>.
Most DXKeeper users are DXers who started with some other logging
application, and have successfully reconciled their DXCC statistics. The
effort involved depends entirely on the quality of information contained in
the imported ADIF file(s).
If you attach your ADIF file to an email message and send it to me via
aa6yq at ambersoft.com, I'll take a look and see what might be responsible for
the discrepancy.

My first pass at loading my DXBase file into DXLab came up 20 countries
shy, who knows how many Band Countries.
Clearly not a seamless conversion

that those who are looking for alternatives to DXBase, definitely should
take a look at the DXSuite. I had no problems converting my log files from
DXBase, including the LOtw uploads and downloads to sync the log. I am
having a great time with RTTY and PSK31 (Winwarbler) and am learning more
about the multitude of features I haven't had time to explore. The
documentation and online help files are excellent and with DXLauncher,
download and installation of the various packages is a breeze. I know that
no matter how well software is written, it won't please everyone, but
believe me you owe it to yourself to see if DXSuite software can meet your
particular needs and its FREE .

> I just wanted to inform you my transition is complete. I couldn't be
happier with the software. My DXBase logs were imported into DXKeeper
without incident. Commander controls my TS-940s without problems, Winwarbler
works great on RTTY and PSK31 including the log functions and I'm certain
that with time I will come to appreciate more of the available features of
DXsuite.
> One of my biggest concerns was the LOtw operations, but as far as I can
tell at the onset, it worked perfectly in updating my log data and verfying
the LOtw confirmations.
> I know you spend a great deal of time solving a multitude of problems so I
just wanted to send you this positive note from pleased user of the
software. My issues will probably plague you later, after I know enough to
be dangerous, but for now I couldn't be happier.
