A number of folks contact me regarding my spring 2007 instructions.
Based on their questions and cockpit
troubles I revised the instructions.
Here they are:
problem: DXBase cannot find the key and therefore stays in Trial mode.
solution: (updated Jan 5, 2008)
The software cannot handle the automatic placement of the key in both
the 32
bit and the 64 bit registry.
Therefore it is necessary to make a modification to the 64 bit
registry in
VISTA 64.
BACK UP THE REGISTRY FIRST !
1) go the system prompt
2) click on "start search" and type in regedit and do a "enter"
3) go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and click on it
4) find the folder "Wow6432Node" and in it place a new folder
"Scientific
Solutions" and into this one another " Dxb2007"
5) in that folder create a new entry called "Key" (you will have to
rename
the " new key#1" into "Key"), Note: this is not another subfolder - it
is only a key within the Dxb2007 folder
6) go under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to the existing 32 bit folder that says
Scientific Solutions and under Key copy the text string associated
with it,
to do this click on the name Key and a little edit window opens up. In
Value data you see the key value highlighted in blue. Copy this value
by right clicking on it.
7) go back to the new folder created in the Wow6432Node as Key and
paste the
text value into it.
Note: the newly entered folder and key value in the Wow6432Node folder
must look exactly like the one under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SOFTWARE,
Scientific Solutions - these entries are case sensitive - be accurate!
8) close the registry
Restart DXbase2007 and it will work.
