[Dxbase] Using Vista

It's in the arcs around the first of the year, several of us fired it up on
Vista 64 at the same time. One of the problems is the install routine for
DXB doesn't get past the Registry security. It takes manual entries. Mine
runs fine now.
The procedure was spelled out in detail.
You'll find Vista is just fine as an operating system. The only complaint I
have is older peripherals aren't supported by companies like HP... My
scanner will never have drivers for it via HP, go buy a new one is what they
say... Yeah I will another company's scanner.

Subject: [Dxbase] Using Vista
Please reply to Rick or the reflector. Thanks.
DXBaser's:
I had to purchase a new HP desktop computer that only came equipped with
Microsoft Vista (unfortunately). I am having difficulty installing the
registration key so that DXBase recognizes it. I would appreciate any
comments or suggestions to help me fix my problem which is explained below.
I have reviewed past reflector postings but I am not sure I have seen this
exact problem.
After I installed the "trial copy of DXBase 2007", I attempted to install
the registration code I received from Jack via email. I sent this
registration code via email from my old XP computer to the new computer
having Vista installed on it. When I click on the registration code to
install it on the Vista computer, I get a splash screen message saying:
This file does not have a program associated
with it for performing this action.
Create an association in the Set Association
control panel.
Has anyone experienced this and found a fix for it. I am not sure where the
Set Association control is located on Vista or how to set it if it exists.
I would appreciate any suggestions or solutions.
