[Dxbase] Any tricks in setting up M2 RC2800PDC rotator ?

I have just received my first ever logging program Dxbase 2006 and have gotten my radio and ARRL data CD to work. I am now having trouble in getting the M2 RC2800 PDC  rotator to get any commands from my RS 232 port. I have gone to the help section and have tried to do / set up like the example but had no luck. I tried both straight and null cables. Do I have to do anything with or inside the M2 control box? What cable type do I need to be using? Should I see something on either the M2 or logging screens?
