[Dxbase] Seeing Radio

Bob
DXB doesn't 'poll' the radio constantly.
It sends a request to read or a command only when needed.
Such as...upon start to see if there is a radio connected.
Upon a qsy, to send the commands to change band, mode etc
Upon a request to log, such as reading the freq, mode etc.

So where I'd start looking is, your baud rate.
My Yaesu FT1000mp prefers 4800 baud, no parity, 8 bit word length and here's the one that
some people miss, 2 (two) stop bits.
I'm almost certain your Mark V is the same.

Now you didn't tell us what kind of interface.
I've previously used, my computer's internal com port, a SIIG dual com port PCI card, and
now a microhamKEYER USB device.
All operate the FT properly.

I'd also check in SystemProperties>Hardware>Device Manager. Make sure the setting coincide
with the DXB settings for the comport.
It normally doesn't matter if the baud is set higher as it will work down but usually
won't go 'higher' than the com port setting.
Flow control may have to be played with.
There are so many computers, and so many motherboards treating com ports differently.
The newer computers have no com ports at all.
It's the old thing about 'standards' even manufacturer has the best, even if it's not the
same as the others.
