Well I just tried the 8 possible combinations or the DTR, RTS, and CTS for my radio and none of them allowed it to read the radio. I was looking at the log and I had a QSO on May 27 with China and it worked then. The next one was June 22 and it didn't work then, because I remembered having to type in the frequency after I left the station I had to go back and find him to get the correct frequency. I didn't think anything about it because I had found that if I turned on the radio after starting DXBase that sometimes they may not talk to each other and thought that is what I had done. Didn't even turn on the radio on until the end of August when my brother-in-law was visiting to show him the radio and logging program. I typed in my call and everything was filled in except the correct mode and frequency, but I was able to show him how I could click on an internet spot and it would move to the right frequency and mode.
Has me totally lost since I have the same problem with two different radios and two differnt COM ports. I checked and later on May 27th I installed PalmOne software which uses a HotSync program through a COM port. It was set to COM5. The only other software installed before June 22 was software for my Microsoft keyboard. The HotSync has been turned off because the Palm that I had died, but I still use the software because I have all my contacts and other information stored in it. Even turned on HotSync to see if it might be set to COM1, but it was still set to COM5, so that isn't it. Even if it was that is only one COM port that would be affected, not two.
Sure wish there was a program that would scan the computer to see what programs used what ports.
