That simply means that it read 5001 qso's were read, but only 4511 of them met your 
filtering specifications.
Either they were before or after a date, wrong mode, etc. etc.

something in those records was rejected as being incorrect.
for instance, if you are making a .adi file to submit to LoTW, maybe some of the qso's 
already were submitted and so marked.
