Hi Everyone

Took me a while to go throught this problem and to get to the bottom of it.

One of my problems was I did not reboot the computer after installing dxb2006.exe patch.

Another was having Mixed, Phone, CW boxes all check at the same time, because having too many things checked causes the program to become unstable, thus displying wrong information.

Third, was in the QSO Record Filters not having the box checked for EXCLUDE PAST SUBMISSIONS.

Fourth, I ran the report called dxccredited.rpt found duplicate QSO that were cedit as for AWARD with DXCC box checked with the same call sign, band and mode. Some had the same dates while others did not. There were a couple that were dated before 1975. To my surprise, I had also selected AWARD with DXCC box checked for the same country same band same mode with another ARRL sumission in the log. I am amazed that I found these. I think the major thing was duplicates.

Dublicats need to looked at in a different light.

Let me define the the word duplicate or duplicates from what I found:
Same call, Same dates, same band, same mode
Same call, different dates, same band, same mode
Same call, same dates, same band, different mode
Different call, same dates, same band, same mode
Different call, different dates, same band, same mode
Different call, same dates, same band, different mode

A few DUPLICATES were found dated before 1974 and had the above patterns

As far as I can tell there may still be one or two that I may have missed. There is at least one that I know of that was dated before 1975 that I got Band or mixed credit by the ARRL, NOT mode credit. That one was not replaced yet cause I have not worked another. This is where the problem starts, by replaceing thame with something more current and you creat a DUPLICATE.

The duplicates that I know for sure exist for the same band but different modes, are there because of the ARRL gave me credit for these contacts, for CW and PHONE.

Now the problem I see is that the ARRL duplicates for the same band the DXBase AWARDS program might get confused along with QSO's that got AWARD DXCC credit on/before the 1975 date. Is this conclusion wrong?

There is an LOTW duplicate report that I ran before all of this and came up clean. SURE would be nice to have a more comprehensive duplicate report for DXCC to find them and note weather they need to be unchecked for AWARD DXCC. The flaw in this comes where the ARRL information must be enterd accurately. Therefore, instead of tell us to uncheck the DXCC box, the report says or puts a "X" in a column that says check your ARRL credits for a descrepency.

Once these are fixed the Awards program would be less unstable because the ARRL duplicates for the same band the DXBase AWARDS program might get confused along with QSO's that got AWARD DXCC credit on/before the 1975 date still exist.

Specical thanks to a certain preson who help me understand the program. I do not know if that person wanted to be named cause I did not ask.

Keep The Faith, Jim
