[DXBase] My DxBase2005 requests

As long as there are some wish lists being thrown out there, I have a=
couple. Actually I have several, but here are just a couple. The first=
has to do with matching callsigns. If I have W1ABC and W1ABC/M in my log,=
they are treated as two entirely different callsigns. I suppose this is=
true, as it should be. But when I get a QSL card from someone and I check=
the Previous QSO window, I sometimes have a problem finding the call. =
Maybe he was saying "W1ABC mobile 1" and I logged it W1ABC/M1 one time and=
W1ABC/M another time or he said "W1ABC portable" and I logged it W1ABC/1=
once and W1ABC/p another time. When I get his card, many times the / and=
modifier will not even be on it. I then have to scroll around the log to=
find the time and date of the QSO to verify it. Isn't there some sort of=
way of using partials (user selectable) to bring up calls that are close? =
Like if I type in W1AB in the Previous QSO window, I might get QSOs from=
 W1AB, W1ABC, and W1ABC/M. =20

My other request actually has a couple of parts and has to do with labels=
and cards. It may actually be solvable in the current version of DxBase. =
I recently received printed up cards from some mobile operations that=
involved operating from different counties or grid squares. The first=
problem is that there really is no column to list what grid or county or=
whatever you were operating from. I do keep separate logs for major=
operations, like if I were in another country or state for a while. But if=
I am operating a contest like the NEQP or the USCQP, I might only have a=
dozen QSO's in any given county and traverse several dozen counties. When=
I import my ADIF file, I can use the SPECIAL-1 or SPECIAL-2 field to have=
my county or grid. But I can't do that on an individual QSO record. There=
is no ADIF field for SPECIAL-1 or SPECIAL-2 that I know of. You can import=
the Notes field using the ADIF <COMMENT> type. This might work, however,=
here comes the other problem/request. When you design a card (or label),=
there is no variable for COMMENT. So, I can not print the QSO NOTE=
information on the card. Why can't this field be a variable? To get=
around this, I attempted to manually enter this information, using the ASK=
function. So when a card is to be printed with a field such as the grid or=
county I was operating from, it would prompt me. This works fine when I=
print one card at a time, which is usually the case. However, if I am=
doing multiple cards, I get multiple prompts (which was the case for=
someone who sent me cards for a half dozen counties I worked him in). But=
I have no idea which card the prompt is for! Why can't the prompt tell me=
which record it is prompting for? =20
