[Dxbase] Question about ITU Zones and Russia

Joe,
My vote is the "central city". Let the "other areas" of the prefix ID
their zone for a callsign by callsign update of the "correct" ITU zone.
This topic also stimulates another issue I have mentioned in the past. We
could use a "table update" utility similar to the log import utility to
take some kind of text file and update these MS Access tables. This case
by case, year by year, manual update is error prone and could be made more
effective. The idea would be to use a "table update" utility which would
accept a simple "text file" with the data appropriate to the table being
updated. This "text file" could then be set up, maintained, and even
posted on the DXBase web site as a "current item" for use by all DXBase
users. Issues like the zone data, specific callsign data etc could easily
be added and noted on the reflector to help synchronize all users (in
between DXBase updates). I bet we could even find some volunteers to help
maintain that information much like AD1C does for the *.cty files for the
contesters.
I guess that was $0.04 worth... 2 cents for each...
73 and thanks for your good work,
George .. W1ZT
