Hi folks,
I had a problem last night involving DX Base that I'm sincerely hoping
doesn't come back to bite me badly. After calling for a few minutes I
finally managed to work a ZL4 station operating split on 40 Meters. All was
going well and I got my report, at which time I logged the contact. Being
2:45 in the morning I guess I wasn't as sharp as I normally am, and I
forgot that once you log a split contact DX Base clears the split VFO
function on the radio, and I wound up transmitting on a frequency below
7100 kHz - not only bad for my license, but bad for the 600W amp that was
now suddenly looking into a 4:1 SWR, instead of the 1:1 on the proper QSX
frequency.
Please tell me a fix for this problem is in the offing in the 2005
release?? It's one thing when it clears a 5 kHz split on 20 meters and all
I have to worry about is an angry frequency cop - but the stakes are much
higher on 40. In fact, I've *never* been able to get DX Base to play well
with VFO b on this radio.
