I've had this happen often and for no apparent reason and no clear
explanation either. I'll close the program or Microsoft decides to update
and reboot while program is open. About 1/4 of the time "country.dat" is
missing and can't start the program. Everything is up to date too. I used
to reinstall it when this happened. But not I save a copy of the
country.dat file in backup, and re-copy it to the "save" directory so that I
can get it to execute again.

Hello,
When I tried to start DX4WIN i got the following error message:
A fatal error occured:
The file C:\dx4w903\SAVE\country.dat is missing
It is not possible to start the program, so the country.dat file seems to be
essential.
What should I do? Where can I find the country.dat file?
It might have been so that I had opened the reports|award|DDCC|Modes window
and left the computer on, so it went into sleeping mode before everything
happened,
I am using a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme2nd gen with Windows 11 and have the
latest update of DX4WIN.

Mel,
You most likely have an older version in the backups subdirectory. Copy the
file to the Save subdirectory and start the program again.
Do Help | Check for updates to get the latest version.
