[Dx4win] Question

Here's what I do for EVERYTHING .....every piece of equipment in the shack.
If I don't already have a copy of the manual in pdf file format, I grab
one. Most come with that file now days, but almost all have that file
available on their website. Then, I put a shortcut for that file on my
desktop. All of them are their....in my case...my DX4WIN logging software
user manual, my FTDX 101D manual, my FTDX 10 manual, my FT991A manual, my
Ameritron ALS 1306 manual, my MFJ 998 autotuner manual......Green Heron
rotator controller, HyGain DCU3 manual.....ok.................the
list.....goes on and on and on. There is no printing of manuals in this
shack. Then, simply open the file when you have ANY QUESTION on ANY PRODUCT
you use....and in Adobe Acrobot (the software app that reads pdf files), do
a "Control F". That is the command for FIND (you could also go up top and
look for FIND....but why waste yet more time?). Then type in whatever on
earth you want to get an answer to. Like in this case, you had a question
about the QSO window in DX4WIN. Merely open up the DX4WIN user manual pdf
file, do CONTROL F, type in "QSO window". Yes, it may come up with several
places in the manaul where info shows up (on some commands, in fact, it
could be MANY occurences!)....but just keep quickly glancing at the info it
brought up....and hit "NEXT" in the find window....until it comes up with
EXACTLY what you want to know. BINGO! You're good to go!

I have ALL my shack computerized and tied together with modern equipment.
It would be almost impossible to memorize EVERY single command or thing
about all those software commands for the various equipment/software (I use
HDSDR with OmniRig for an external panadapter, so there's more extensive
commands/info I need to have at my fingertips in the software realm....for
instance). With the pdf file, that 300 page manual...or in my case....MANY
manuals...some quite large....are just little icons on my desktop. No
printing of manuals (I haven't looked at a printed manual in.....ok. I've
lost track....well over a decade for sure!). No digging through manuals. No
searching long periods of time for some command/info. Just open the user
manual file, CONTROL F, type in the subject want info/guidance
on......bingo.................
