A few notes on this:
1. Each award has a URL associated with it which points to the
application, rules, etc. In DX4WIN 9.01 and later, to see the URL,
first open the list of Custom award choices by clicking in the "Custom
award" field and typing F1. Click on the award of interest from the
list, and then type F1. It will then bring up a window showing the
Award Info. If you right-click on the URL in that window, you can
"Visit URL" to bring up the web page. You can use the ESCape key to
close the "Award Info" window.
The announcement shows that many awards changed. That's not strictly
true. I recently ran a program over my website and identified a
number of bad links. I fixed the ones that I could. So in many
cases, only this URL changed and nothing else.
2. I am now using a different directory structure for the releases,
based on year. This will make it easier for me to delete old
databases (to save room on the server). I think the DX4WIN Data
Updater should still work, but please let me know if it doesn't. See
#3 below.
I plan to remove all custom award releases (.ZIP files) for years 2020
and earlier. I'll have to update the release web page to remove the
links to these removed databases, but the release notes will still
remain whole.
3. There is a way to check the version of the award release. For any
QSO, select the Custom Award named "VERSIO" (DX4WIN 9.01 and later) or
"VERS" (DX4WIN 8.05 and earlier). This Custom Award has only one
Custom Award Value associated with it, which is the date of the
release. So today's release should say 2022-01-09. If you run the
DX4WIN Data Updater and don't get this result, please let me know.
4. There may be a discrepancy in how many custom awards there are.
The web page says 229, but this E-mail announcement said 228, so I
need to find out where the mismatch is.
