Check to see what file your log is in.
Open SAVE AS window and look what folder your .DXL log is shown in. It should be in the DX4WIN/SAVE file. But sometimes when working with importing contest files this will get changed to something dealing with your contest files. For example, your SAVE AS file may open to your WRITELOG/N1MM, etc folder instead of DX4WIN/SAVE. This frequently happens to me when I import my contest adif files from ADIF2DXQ. My SAVE AS save folder gets changed to the adif2dxn folder. I know how and why this happens and then reset the SAVE AS to look at the SAVE folder. Yes I know I can save the result of my adif2dxn conversion to the SAVE folder but I do it my way.
You can also type (yourcall).dxl in the windows search box and see what locations it may be found.
HINT: Before I make changes to my log (import contest files, export to LOTW, etc) I place a thumb drive in my PC USB slot. Then I open the SAVE AS/SAVE folder. I right click on the DXL file and a drop down menu opens. I click on SEND TO and send a copy of the current DXL file to the thumb drive to keep it safe..

Carol,
Not sure how you can loose all your QSOs when importing a log. The only way to do this, as far as I know, is to start a new log using the same name as your regular log.
DX4WIN keeps various backup copies of your log; see on-line help in the section “files”
