You're the Great Guru! Your suggestion worked perfectly. Hope Windows 10 will keep this after I connect to the external monitor when back home, but even if not, now I know how to cope with this subject!

 On the laptop, check the Scale Factor on the Screen tab in
Preferences.  Try setting it to 100% and see if the problem goes away.
