[Dx4win] DX4WIN/RIG EXPERT TI-8 (TS002 cable)/TS950SDX Radio data connection times out

I am trying to get DX4WIN to talk to my TS950SDX using the RigExpert 
TI-8/TS002 interface. The radio data interface ( Band info , mode etc) 
times out . Not sure if the problem is with the TI-8 or  DX4WIN ( or the 
TS950?) . The station has been in moth balls for 5 years during a move. 
Used to work fine with an earlier version of DX4WIN and a home brew 
IF-232 interface ( the IF-232 interface has not surfaced from the 
unpacking)
Any help /clues appreciated.
