[Dx4win] FW: DX4WIN

Hello,

I am currently using version 6.02 on an old Windows XP machine and have been
happy with it.

But I have been having problems with that computer and have decided to
switch to a laptop with windows 7 on it. I tried copying the entire dx4w602
directory to a thumb drive and then copying that to the laptop. That worked
in the past when I moved from one XP computer to another XP computer. But
in this case with Windows 7, it wouldn't open and gave me a port driver
message. Is there a solution for that?

Alternatively and probably better would be to install the latest version of
DX4WIN (I think it's 8.05) on the laptop.

I've looked over AD1C's notes about upgrading, but that's not exactly what I
want to do. I don't mind reentering all the preferences but I would like to
import all the old QSO data into the new version and then use the new
version going forward.

I would still have the program and the old QSO data files on both the thumb
drive and the older computer if I ever need them

After I install 8.05, can I just import the QSO data files from the old save
file in version 6.02.

Essentially I'm acting as though I'm a new user but want to import all the
old QSO data.

Can I do that?

Thanks es 73,

Joe, K1JB
