For some time I (like others) have wanted to be able to use DX4WIN in conjunction with other programs that monitor UDP port traffic for station automation, etc.
DX4WIN does not support that function natively.
Recently, the PstRotatorAz program by Codrut YO3DMU added the capability of taking the SteppIR output-to-external-serial data that DX4WIN does supply, and turning that data into a UDP stream on the computer.
In this way, for example, I can now use DX4WIN as my logging program and have my Green Heron Engineering remote switched antenna system auto-select. This can take place even over a LAN should I choose to direct the traffic that way.
Now that this ability is simple and reliable, I can go back to focusing on listening for DX.
See: PstRotator - Software for Antenna Rotators for more information.
Yes, if you are wondering, this is the same program reviewed in the November 2014 QST magazine.
