[Dx4win] Problems in using DX4WIN and MixW at the same time

I doubt any version of Windows since NT will allow two programs to access
the same hardware at same time. Windows 3.1 on DOS might allow that, but
Windows on DOS is/was never stable.

Hi James!

I have been used DX4WIN for many years with success. I had no problems
with the CAT in DX4WIN when I had a direct cabel between the
transceiver and DX4WIN.

A couple of years ago I purchased Rig Expert Interface and MixW3
software for digimodes. Now I have problems with the CAT in using
DX4WIN and MixW at the same time. According to the installing
instructions both software should use the same virtual comport.
Sometimes I could use the CAT in DX4WIN when I shut down MixW. If I
had DX4WIN running, MixW could not use the comport at the same time.

Now when I start DX4WIN it cannot recognize the CAT comport and there
will be a message "Radio timed out, Radio interface has been disabled"
although I don't have MixW software running

I have a new computer with Windows 7 (64 bit) and the transceiver is
FTdx5000.

How could that kind of problem be fixed? It is somehow boring, because
DX4WIN can't read the mode and frequency from the transceiver and I
have to do it manually. Several times I have forgotten to do it and
afterwards I have had to try to remember the right mode and band.
